This part of your post is interesting. I looked at your comment history and it seems you've been saying this about Laurelai Bailey and that 8chan board for at least 8 years or so. Your claim is that she made the /hebe/ board as a honeypot so that Dan Olson could find CP on it.

However the image you post as evidence does not suggest this at all.
This is not a sticky post, since there is no pinned symbol on it. It's also not the first post on /hebe/, since the post number is 17782. The first post on that board would be numbered 1.

That 8chan post was made December 15th, 2014. Now if you look at Dan Olson's archived medium, you will notice that many of the 8chan posts he shows in his article are dated prior to that and have lower post numbers. So, it seems like the content he found was uploaded by real 8chan users.

In addition, while the website starrevolution was owned by Bailey and I'm assuming the screenshot is real, we do not know if there actually was an irc channel on it or if that 8chan post was actually made by her.

A lot of older records from the old era of GG are mostly unverifiable, owing to archives getting nuked, old data repositories going offline, and many records from that time being absolutely flooded with legit disinformation. Veteran Kiwis may recall an image of Brianna Wu calling someone retarded; that image is a fake, done by a clone account posing as her.

I bring this up not to deflect, but to point out that tons of information has sat out there for a while, and with minimal ability to provide real-time archiving of it, you wind up with issues like this one - where we're forced to go on the word of the alleged culprits and people directly or indirectly involved and hope for the best. Sadly, this does mean bad data occasionally gets through, especially if it isn't found earlier.

Thankfully in this case, you are the one who is absolutely correct. /hebe/ was not started by Laurelai at all, it was already present on 8chan for quite a while (I'm convinced it was intended as a honeypot, considering what was being done to shut down 8chan at the time, but there's no way to confirm or deny it. Olson (and presumably whatever dumbfuck put Olson up to it) just took advantage of that shit being there. I found out a good chunk of this only around October or so myself.

Additionally, a lot more information was brought to my attention regarding CON and Laurelai - there was an avid attempt to keep Laurelai out of their circle for a few reasons, despite multiple attempts by certain members of CON (namely the likes of Jakey and SFtheWolf) to bring her on board. I couldn't tell you if it was simply members of CON knowing who and what she is, or if it was them simply not wanting to share the table with her.

So.... Yeah. You're correct on this one. I'll own being wrong on it:
1. Laurelai did not create /hebe/, it was there already. There's no way to confirm if it was a honeypot or 8chan's userbase being fucking retarded.
2. Olson was definitely put up to do his retarded sting operation in accordance with CON's attempts to cut off 8chan's funding. Very little evidence exists that it was Laurelai beyond circumstantial examples.
3. Laurelai was actively kept out of CON by the locals despite several members trying to onboard her. She likely was never directly involved despite repeatedly claiming to be (and being accused of such repeatedly).

The photos already exist, Brennan argues. So what if he’s building a directory through which they can be shared and discussed? In other words: Someone else is in the wrong already, and he’s merely using the fruits of that labor.

The writer of that article also states the following:
The images found on 8chan are often legal “softcore” photos in which the content does not definitively qualify as sexually explicit, i.e. featuring simulated sex, intercourse, and visible genitalia. The tone and context of 8chan’s forums make the sexual references clear, however, and there are multiple threads throughout the site in which users discuss and link directly to hardcore child pornography.

One of the biggest reasons that I personally stuck to this long is that Bailey herself copped to it, but as we've seen from her own thread, she's an incredibly unreliable narrator and this shit just further drives that home.

Effectively, she implied, repeatedly, that she had a hand in a bunch of shit the Anti-GG elements were up to. The thing is, we never got anything other than circumstantial evidence about that at best, along with Laurelai being her usual "charming" self. Laurelai crowed about how essential she was to Olson's little sting on 8chan at the time, but as we've gone over, that was very clearly Olson taking advantage of what was going on at the time. I would not put it being CON that helped prop it up for Olson to "find," given that Quinn, Harper, and Izzy all have been caught doing that shit previously, but without additional information that must be consigned to the conjecture pile, especially given how retarded 8chan could be and especially Null's insight on the matter.

Knowing what we do now, it's very likely that was only minimally involved if at all, and the situation, in reality, was more like this:

1. Laurelai wanted in on CON because it was the next big grift. Remember, at the time, CON was big and getting face-time with the heads of various social media networks and even before the UN while money was coming in hard and fast by their standards.
2. Several of CON's fork-and-spoon operators, mostly Jakeywakey and SFtheWolf, were all about bringing her in as an "internet security expert."
3. CON's bigger members knew exactly who and what Laurelai was, and in the same way they gatekept Brianna Wu the fuck out of their clubhouse, they kept Laurelai out.
4. The general consensus was clearly against letting Laurelai in. CON Logs show that even Nyberg was like: "....Yeah, don't let them in, they're nothing but trouble."

It reminds me how I was looking for YS threads archives from 8chan and eventually tried yandex. Then I saw that images tab was full of pictures with little girls and copped out. There was nothing extreme, but still this memory gives me a nervous laughter every time I get to it.

This is what I recall you saying at the time and what I recall happening. The /hebe/ board existed, that element was definitely present on 8chan, but the specific images used by Olsen were planted. Ironically, while they might have been legal in the U.S. (never saw them unblurred nor tried to), they would definitely have been considered CP in Canada.

Olsen posting them even in their blurred form showed he actually possessed them in their original form, and he was guilty of possessing CP, which as Pete Townsend learned, you aren't allowed to collect as part of some personal vigilante "investigation," as he claimed he was doing. It's contraband period, and much like drugs, you can't merely claim you only ironically were collecting cocaine or CP.

I do think it was a plant but the history is pretty murky at this point. I don't think Wesley's involvement was as critical as he likes to pretend, like his other similarly bogus claims he was the Stuxnet leak.

Apologies for the inconvenience previously, but I'd be abandoning the original rewrite for the 2.0 variant of the Patrick Tomlinson rewrite, this time, with better timed reservation replies. It will be a copy-paste from the previous formula, but without the attributed images. They will be segmented into 3~5 parts, similar to Elaine's thread. This will be one of the fattest biggest rewrite I'm going to work on, so you have to bear it with me.
