Mega Rad Gun Thread

B&T has made their first AR-15, partnered with Geissele. It's $3200.

I don't have any strong opinions about B&T, but this really just seems like a Geissele Super Duty, only $1000 more expensive. That's KAC money.
It's also light/made with some titanium parts, that's lots of $$$ and B&T doesn't do enough scale to drive the price down. Still too rich for my tastes, but I don't think it's outrageous.

I'm sure there are people out there who will find the titanium handguard appealing (V Seven stays in business), but it sounds like it's not much lighter than a Geissele MK16 handguard. That said, it seems like it won't be much more expensive than a MK16's retail price.

I do kind of like the bizon design, but not that much lol. I wish more of these companies that basically release these limited run sort of guns would focus on making a somewhat larger quantity of them. Like I know releasing a modern Bizon wouldn't sell like hotcakes, but I feel like you could sell way more of them if you knocked some dollars off because you're selling them at a higher quantity. Most people just aren't willing to fuck around and drop $3,500 on a firearm that was never very widespread in the first place.

For B&T they already charge a large premium for their rifles anywhere from 1.8k - 2.8k for a lot of their skus across their flagships. I can't really argue the raw value proposition being there, because it's not. There's a ton of competition in the market even at the higher end, but for B&T nerds, they won't sneeze at 3.2k msrp. As you said though, KAC is in line with that $, HK is inline with that $ and there's seemingly as good offerings cheaper for B&T's ar15. If their bolt is just a G$ REBCG and not some new secret swiss sauce, then ya just buy their $400 handguard to slap on a superduty and call it a B&T. B&T fans will still pay the markup, however.

If I had to guess, the BCG (or at least the bolt) is from Geissele. Their bolts really are very tough. I have 2 of them. I chatted with a guy who has over 60k rounds on one and he says it's still going strong, so maybe the B&T guy's claim of 140k rounds isn't too much of an exaggeration. I wonder if there's any public info on Geissele stress testing their bolts?

Titanium weighs more than aluminum and I've never heard anyone complain about aluminum handguards in a way that stronger titanium would fix, who would buy this?

yeah i don't get it. I can see a use for titanium barrels, which are already starting to appear on high end hunting shotguns or in use for small parts that need durability but a handguard? its a meme.

Titanium is fancy and can be sold at a higher markup obviously.

But on a serious note, titanium is:
- stronger/denser
- can be 3D printed for certain complex designs
- lower thermaly conductive which means leas heat from the barrel into the hand, less issues in cold weather etc
- more corrosion resistant in salt water etc.

Nothing that really matters for us civilians

Fuck you I want one because Titanium.

Maybe B&T will just come off the uppers for like $2500 or something, so you don't have to buy the whole rifle to get the anti-walk version of the rail. Who cares about the lower, there's nothing special in there that LaRue doesn't do better for less (suck it Bill, lul).

B&T are apparently coming out with an updated "Pro" model of the TP9/MP9. I'm a big fan of the TP9 and I've always thought it was one of the best 9mm PDW style weapons out there, so I'm glad that B&T are continuing to improve and iterate on it.

So what's a good mid to higher tier 3x magnifier? I have a older PA 3x, which is decent for its price point but I'm looking for something with better glass and eye box. I do like the Idea of the PA Pegasus magnifier with the BDC etchings instead of having a more busy recicle like the acss one I have for my Holosun 503c. Especially since the only time you really need BDC/holdovers is when using magnification anyways

Also, has anyone seen that company last year apparently planned on bringing reproduction FNC's to the US this year at shot?
