As a practical matter there is nothing to read into the scheduling of a trial other than that a plea offer was not accepted, which doesn't rule out the possibility that somewhat productive discussions with the state about his delusions are still ongoing. Ordinarily one settlement conference is always scheduled as a matter of course, and one may successfully beg for a second on the grounds of ongoing investigative developments like in Aaron's case or on the grounds of still needing to "think it over" like in Nick's case, but a third settlement conference was never going to happen as the judge himself would lose patience and get a trial calendar set in stone regardless of what the defendant or the prosecutor wanted. All that this changes is setting a time horizon for whatever it is that Aaron's attorney is trying to accomplish, whether futile or not.

That certainly seems to be the cope he is adopting in a new clip from today, which adds little beyond that cope other than now teasing that there "there was something we're aware of, that they weren't aware of, and more time was needed to work that out," so his attorney's investigator's work feeding the state some new revelation on Wednesday could have been a valid reason to buy more time for further plea negotiations even if the ordinary next step of trial scheduling was the only way to do so:


Another oddity worth noting is that an ordinary pretrial conference would usually be indexed in the docket as precisely that, so the fact that the clerk instead indexed the April 10th hearing as a "Motion Hearing" indicates that Aaron's attorney intends to file (or is at least making a negotiation tactic out of the threat to file) a specific motion that needed that time blocked out. Whether that is going to be dispositive like a motion to dismiss or just a motion in limine to exclude part of the evidence remains to be seen, but whatever it is he'll finally have to show his cards with a public filing to read.

I don't see anything to disagree with here, but I'll point out there's an important difference with Aaron's goal being the prosecution dropping the case rather than the judge throwing it out as with Nick.

When Nick's interlocutory appeal failed very predictably, his delusions had to end. Aaron's delusions could potentially continue up to a trial and even through a trial all the way until the point where a jury has rendered a verdict.

Nothing has happened in the nearly three months between Aaron learning of the compromise of his account(s), and I'll assume nothing will happen in the future unless something verifiable that's not Aaron coping on his show happens.

As you point out, eventually, unless Aaron pleas out, there will presumably be motions filed by his attorney on the matter which will flesh out what Aaron actually has.

Either of those seem likely, including a motion in limine. I think it's questionable whether they should admit the actual stream.

If the state has the actual picture and it's self-authenticating or can be authenticated by a custodian of records, though, at whatever cell company Aaron has, it's probably admissible corroborating evidence. I don't think it should be admitted at trial for its own sake as proving anything, though.

Even as far as that goes, his earlier clip seemingly to that effect only admitted that he got a "little greedy" in hoping that it could potentially be "done" that day, which didn't necessarily mean a dismissal and could have simply meant being "done" with entry of the misdemeanor plea and sentencing concessions he's been angling for to no avail. He may well be dumb enough to think a dismissal was ever in the cards, but he hasn't said as much yet.
