"Mad at the Internet" - a/k/a My Psychotherapy Sessions

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
bro LOOK AT THIS SHIT

they've been charging me $100/yr, I had set this up like 6 years ago for someone else and had put it on a personal card like a retard. i went to finally cancel this shit and this was the cancellation process.

first, finding the fucking cancel button is an insane task. It's under billing but beneath all your invoices. cancel is a plain link. there is no way to cancel from the subscription page or your license page.

0 - payment 2.png
0 - payment 1.png

second, "lets make this right". they offer to let you contact someone for help in case you're a retard.

1 - here to help.png

third, a HUGE fuckoff page with all sorts of bullshit that serves no purpose except adding another 3000 pixels to scroll past to find cancel.

3 - dyk.png
3 - dyk 2.png

fourth, a confirmation page explaining YOU'RE A LOSER!! LOSING BIG BENEFITS!!! it even makes you click a little box to make sure you're SERIOUS.
(consumer reporting agencies find that every single click in a cancellation system has dropoffs)

5 - you lose.png

page five, you gotta tell em why. if you don't tell em why, they won't let you proceed. you can't just skip past this shit. you have to write something.

this one is the WORST page, because this one actually tripped me up and made me think that the cancellation was confirmed. The "We're sorry to see you go" message makes it look like it's all said and done, but it's accepting optional feedback. this is NOT the case, this is NOT a cancellation page, this is another cling page.

5 - why 1.png
5 - why 2.png

page six, now they're really desperate. Look, just click this button to get a fucking discount, idiot! we'll let you stop this shit if you just let us take 40$ a year instead!

6 - special offer.png

page seven is the actual cancellation page, but there's a caveat: this is the ONLY PAGE where the primary button (green) is the cancel button. All prior pages emphasize the stay subscribed, but on THIS ONE they play a trick where if you click the faded button it just takes you back to the main page so you have to start all over again.

Their site is also slow as fuck. Each of these pages takes 5+ seconds to load. Google shows that the average web consumer these days expects loading times under 0.75 seconds. This is literal psychological warfare on the customer.

Every single page made me sit and stare for several seconds wondering if it finally got cancelled. These pages all look like cancel confirmation pages with other alternatives but none

I've even heard normies complaining about shit like this. It's been coming up more frequently in normie discussions, how long and drawn-out the cancellation process can be, last several family gatherings feature relatives bitching about some service being hard to cancel. I usually reply something like "yeah it should be illegal to make it harder to cancel than it is to sign up in the first place" and get a chorus of agreement. If the normies are aware and constantly complaining as I've seen, maybe something will get done. Maybe.

When I signed up fory internet service they didn't mention a contract until I wanted to cancel and get better service later. Then I was told actually I signed up for 2 years and I needed to pay them 300 bucks to cancel early. I hesitate to buy a subscription to literally anything, I don't trust a company for more than the 10 seconds it takes them to sell me something.

How would you rate your overall payment cancellation experience? 🔘🔘🔘🔘🔘 (1 star Very Dissatisfied,5 star Very Satisfied)

What could we have done better? (max. 500 characters)

The FTC recently published the "Click to Cancel" rule, as part of amendments to the "Negative Option" rule. However companies have until May 14th to comply.

This requires you to be able to cancel the same way you signed up, so on-line for most things.

It may or may not prohibit that sort of 'trap' for cancellations. Here's the text of that part
FTC said:
§ 425.6 Simple cancellation (“Click to Cancel”).

(a) Simple mechanism required for cancellation. In connection with promoting or offering for sale any good or service with a Negative Option Feature, it is a violation of this Rule and an unfair or deceptive act or practice in violation of section 5 of the FTC Act for the Negative Option Seller to fail to provide a simple mechanism for a consumer to cancel the Negative Option Feature; avoid being Charged, or Charged an increased amount, for the good or service; and immediately stop any recurring Charges.

(b) Simple mechanism at least as simple as consent. The simple mechanism required by paragraph (a) of this section must be at least as easy to use as the mechanism the consumer used to consent to the Negative Option Feature.

(c) Minimum requirements for simple mechanism. At a minimum, the Negative Option Seller must provide the simple mechanism required by paragraphs (a) and (b) of this section through the same medium the consumer used to consent to the Negative Option Feature, and:

(1) For cancellation by Interactive Electronic Medium, the simple cancellation mechanism must be easy to find when the consumer seeks to cancel. Compliance with the disclosure required under § 425.4(a)(4) does not discharge this obligation. In no event shall a consumer be required to interact with a live or virtual representative (such as a chatbot) to cancel if the consumer did not do so to consent to the Negative Option Feature.

If it were after May 14th, I'd certainly recommend an FTC complaint for anyone who encounters such a cancellation.

Until then, use a virtual card(like Privacy) or add the virtual card to your account, then once it's changed tell the virtual card company to stop allowing charges.

Now you how hard it is to cancel a Gym membership. I knew people that were trying to cancel the gym membership because they were moving. But the gym kept being a bitch and kept making the cancellation process even longer. Is there going to be a one press cancellation soon, though?

A little Krebs for Null:

MasterCard DNS Error Went Unnoticed for Years (archive)
All of the Akamai DNS server names that MasterCard uses are supposed to end in “akam.net” but one of them was misconfigured to rely on the domain “akam.ne.”

This tiny but potentially critical typo was discovered recently by Philippe Caturegli, founder of the security consultancy Seralys. Caturegli said he guessed that nobody had yet registered the domain akam.ne, which is under the purview of the top-level domain authority for the West Africa nation of Niger.

Caturegli said it took $300 and nearly three months of waiting to secure the domain with the registry in Niger. After enabling a DNS server on akam.ne, he noticed hundreds of thousands of DNS requests hitting his server each day from locations around the globe. Apparently, MasterCard wasn’t the only organization that had fat-fingered a DNS entry to include “akam.ne,” but they were by far the largest.

Kidd Bandit has revealed on Reddit why according to him the reason that he's deleted his social media, and according to him he deleted it to full focus on training to get back in the wrestling ring, but this is possibly a surface-level answer since if this was the only case he would just mute his social media instead of going DFE mode.

And Roblox Pedo and Former Dale Glen Legion leader of the trihard community Rivernook who feuded with @Ruben Sim over him getting Rivernook's condo games banned has decided to release an expose to try and debunk the evidence against him. The whole expose basically boils down to "I did nothing wrong, I was groomed into liking roblox condos, my servers were not condo games, stop trying to cancel me.

Alright paypiggies, we need to have a serious roundtable on just how much we really need the lime KF logo gilded next to our Twitter handles when tagging and shitposting at trannies directly. It can be a DM chain but we also have to invite 400+ poorfags and sexually harass one another
Goddamn, I have to make a twitter account now? I've held out for so long.
I might get confused and sexually harass the troons. I'll need a handler.

@Null Found these at the local small grocery store that sells raw dairy products, thought you might enjoy the label.
front page material, and see you could definitely get a lower price shopping around for org verification
