Plagued /r/TNOmod and the Reddit HOI4 modding community - When a subreddit for a video game mod turns to utter insanity

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
To be completely fair, that in not necessary a TNO problem but just a byproduct of reddit culture just being a cesspool of the same bland corporate safe completely unfunny memes repeated add nauseum till the end of time. Man do I hate that website and all the users of it.
Meanwhile, on the TFR subreddit:

This shit is fucking hilarious

I always love finding out some new obscure turd worlder beef. Like what do you mean the Laotians and Hmong hate each other how the hell did that even happen ?
The Hmong were once a people that lived in China since really ancient times. They did not get along with the Han Chinese very well and would on and off get into race wars with them. Their main god was the Chinese war god Chiyou and were generally seen as barbarians within civilized society. In later eras, they were seen as basically as east asian gypsies. Strange alien cultures with a lot of criminals that tend to wonder around not staying in place and stranger superstitions even by Chinese standards. It took till the Manchu Qing Dynasty for the chinese to have enough of them. They persecuted them hard and either deport them or they fled south themselves.
Flash forward to the Vietnam war and America needs to train an army to fight the Viet Cong on the Ho Chi Minh trail. They turn to the Hmong. Things go fine at first, CIA training pays off and they kill a few commies. But then Laos turns communist and now they are not only fighting irregulars but now fighting a conflict with the Laotian army as well as the Vietnamese. They eventually lose and many of their people get slaughtered. The survivors end up in refugee camps in Thailand. Some end up in Minnesota and Michigan because the US government felt they owed them that.

I went to school with a few of them, they were some of the more funner kids to hang out with.

I could have saved them

You know what, screw it. I'll do it for Vic 2 and I'll rework the the tech the best I can to reflect it. Will probably have to tie some early research points into proportion of artisans to better reflect the difference between something like China and the Sahel.
To show that this isn't idle talk, I've been slowly working my way through the basics of rebuilding V2.

To avoid derailing the thread I'll keep future posts about this in the Paradox Studio thread (don't expect me to work at the pace of @GoodWinSon ) but I will make a few comments relevant to HoI:

As part of having to rework the tech and invention system, I've grown a suspicion that V2 wound up having its tech designed backwards (and possibly borrowing) from the perspective of HoI. Paradox loves their legacy code (anyone who modded EU4 can tell you about its nightmare spaghetti code inherited from EU3) and most of V2's inventions and techs are ported from V1. However, over the course of the research I've done to make sure that the techs/inventions I'm adding/removing are actually period authentic, I've found that there are a large number of inventions that are just out of time, and, especially in the navy tree, vague references to things only done by interwar navies (I am not even a layman as far as naval history is concerned but I suspect that gyrostabilized fire control was not a product of the 1830s).

As is the case with all modern V2 mods I'm making this an alt-history, and it will specifically involve Burgundy because I hate the fact that one of pre-modern history's greatest what-ifs has been tainted by tranny tortureporn fantasies.

Are you talking about victory points or states? I believe Paradox added a way to automatically rename one or both of those depending on the owner, probably the VP's. For states, look for examples ingame, in TNO maybe Hawaii might have that stuff going on, Burgundian lands perhaps.
both VPs and states, the thing is i want to implement the same system that TNO uses so that there's no fuckery going on that might cause bugs. all i need is a blank template and i'll get to work from there.

I remember someone earlier here talked about Pop up and flavor events. Too many and they disrupt the gameplay flow and become annoying. Too few and the mod feels empty and the world feels unlived in. They are good when balanced.
Please Muppetfan, release your mod so I can wipe out Sonic and monopolize the ubermensch autist manchild race as Pokemon
I hope he can one day come back. :(
  • Ronald Reagan's acting career bombed, and he found himself as a homeless drug addict.
  • Superman is an example of the white supremacist übermensch, even becoming an honorary member of the NSDAP after saving Speer from Burgundian terrorists.
  • Iron Man never gets popular outside of America, especially after the issue where he “solves” racism by making a machine that turns black people white.
  • Spider-Man is cancelled after Marvel Comics awkwardly tried to turn him into a small business owner white moderate kind of hero, which just tanked his popularity and made them scrap him altogether.
What the fuck lmao
These are the most funniest shit all week. Especially the Iron Man one. That feels like the set up to the perfect Family Guy cutaway gag.

Romania in TLM becomes depopulated where only the women survived (90% of men die because the Iron Guard killed themselves for some reason lmao) and they reform into a Socialist Feminist Republic...

But they also have mass immigration of Pajeets and Africans coming in from 'allied socialist countries' in order to bolster the population, lmao.

Definitely someone has a weird hateboner for both Romania and a weird race fetish too.

i want to know why batov is so idolized by the TrooNO fanbase. is it because of his superevent or what? he's just a generic 'feel good' unifier that's a military despot who rules with a velvet glove. even yeltsin would be more memeable since shock therapy actually works in the TNOTL

It's 90% his superevent. Besides that he's pretty boring last I remembered. Very vanilla military junta except he's the 'wholesome' military junta, whatever that means.

A military junta is just a form of governance, it doesn't exactly have an ideology. Historically there's been juntas who favor right-wing (Pinochet) or left-wing ideologies (the Derg) but its not inherently an ideology. It's like saying 'republicanism' is an ideology when it's just a system.

What do you think would happen to major lolcows like Chris Chan, Boogie2988, Wings of Redemption, Mini Ladd Keemstar, DSP, Amberlynn Reid etc in TFR's 2nd American civil war?
Realistically, they'd all either be shot, flee the country or be used like Grishka (most likely outcome for Phil, who would also probably survive the AtomWaffen's nuclear apocalypse).
