Watch as EA wont learn jack and shit with this. And because they hate us, they wont bury Bioware for this, despite the fact they necked gaming studios in the past far much much less.

"THINK OF THE JOBS, T.H.T"
Look, I will be nice and recognize that there would be some good folks that would be losing their jobs indeed but I'd argue that the good ones will be able to find new jobs while the DEI hires surely wont or at least shouldnt.

The industry is bloated with worthless employees that bring nothing to the table so downsizing will literally cut the fat(ties) out and leave only the ones actually contributing.

The only reason I can buy EA hasnt killed Bioware is because of M.E 5 but I doubt that everything isnt hinging on the success of that game.

"Why you want these great studios to shut down, you monster?"

Simple, because they arent those studios anymore. They are names, just that, what made them great were their talented devs and without those, it is simply a name. If the gaming industry is relaying on the existence of mere brands based simply on the past glories associated with them then that speaks more about the dire state of the whole thing than us.

I remember having a conversation with a friend of mine about the game even before all the weird tranny stuff came out about the game and we both came to the conclusion that if we were ever going to play it, it would be years later during some summer sale when it was down to five bucks.

Now I'm wondering how long it'll take for it to actually hit five dollars and I'm wondering if it would be worth it even then. I'd have to install the bitch and that clicking the mouse several times might be too much effort even to make fun of it.

Took less than a year for SSKTJL to have the price of a hamburger so I wouldnt say it will take long.
Its only just clicked.

Tash is literally the name of Satan in C.S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia.

They literally named their non-binary Qunari trans symbol Lucifer. I refuse to believe this was unintentional. Bioware working on multiple levels, not the least that Lucifer, the great betrayer is a dude. Anyone who kills Tash in this game is unironically doing a good thing that will earn treasure in heaven.

The devil horns gave it away, didnt it?

Been saying this but EA is in danger of becoming the next Ubisoft if they don't tard wrangle their devs. I mean let's look at their franchises.

Dragon Age - Dead
Mass Effect - Dead
Anthem - lol
Titanfall - Dead
Battlefield - Zombie franchise (Likely dead if/when the next entry fails)
Jedi games - Ending with the third one
Capeshit games - These haven't exactly been doing great lately

Apex, Sims and mainly sports slop are really the only things they have left, and I guess even that has now shown some weakness with the apparent underperformance of FC25.

They also attempted to bring back Dead Space only for history to repeat itself with them giving an unrealistic sale numbers expectation and the controversies (there werent many but you all know the few Im refering to) and the fact Dead Space hasnt been relevant argurably since DS 2 led to the remake being considered a failure in sales (despite the fact that, like before, the game still sold very good all things considered) and EA necked the franchise again.

Depending on how you see it, maybe it was for the best.

Remember when EA used to buy up game companies, force them to rush development, and then shut them down after the broken games flopped? I remember.
EA has fucked up game companies since it existed. Over 40 years of this shit. They have been doing this shit since the early '80s. They were one of the "pioneers" of utterly infuriating DRM (before that acronym even existed). It's just that they've shifted their way of destroying them, from abysmal business sense to abusing employees to now, ruining franchises with wokeshit.

This vile entity has never been anything but a cancer on the industry.

Don't fucking remind me. E.A. should shitcan Bioware anyway BECAUSE M.E. 5 is coming up. They should sub contract out the work to an RPG game developer that actually still gives a shit about things like Storywriting and being consistent with a setting. Maybe Owlcat or Larian.

We're looking at the makings of another major game industry crash, not seen since the 1980's.
The crash already happened. It happened all the way back in the late 2000s and early 2010s. With the advent of the seventh generation came a ballooning of budgets to make games. Inevitably, studios that could get by with moderate successes in the PS2 and original Xbox era now suddenly found themselves one bad game away from bankruptcy. So they either went away or sold themselves to the massive AAA companies. The reason woke became so overwhelming was because marxists and trannies managed to infiltrated these powerful but few companies like EA, Warner, Activision, and Ubisoft. What we're not seeing is the beginning of the crash, but its consequences.

My memories of 1980s EA are colored by the fact they distributed so many of my favorite games as a kid: Bard's Tale, Wasteland, even this oddball interactive fic called Amnesia. I didn't realize they were up to no good even then (although their refusal to let go of either the Wasteland or Bard's Tale IPs should have tipped me off). What else were they doing back then?

Oh wow, announced on the home page.

I’m honestly really sad about this because I actually love Dragon Age. Hawke having to choose which side to fight with after waffling for the entire act, or Leliana starting to sing after the dalish quest.

Hell even the dragon fights in inquisition.

It is a real tragedy.

EA, please, just put Bioware down before they can touch Mass Effect again. I beg you.
That was Bioware Montreal that made the last game. A studio full of new developers that never touched the tools they were forced to use. They originally had a skeleton crew hired to work on fixing Andromeda but that crew was put on Anthem instead, killing any hope of salvaging the game.

Fifty of the Veilguard devs were fired in 2023. Seven of those employees have taken the company to court for ‘adequate severance’. Which is odd because they used to be pretty good for that. Most likely they knew a year ago the game wouldn't do well and had to cut costs. I guess smelling the homeless piss in downtown Edmonton really hurts performance and the ability to run a business.

Boomer and Gen X writers and designers aging out and being replaced by millenial ones that can't help but drag their fetishes and politics into everything they make
Most of the current management and production leads in AAA are Gen Xers. Like the figurehead for 'millennial writing' is fucking Druckmann who was born in the 1970s.

What the fuck is an "AA" game?
I tend to think of it as the long dead "middle market". Back during the sixth and early seventh generation you had many studios that were not big enough to be the AAAs but neither were they one or two dudes in their mom's basement doing an indie passion project. A lot of Eastern European studios fit in this category like CDPR during the Witcher 1 and 2 days, before they went woke and Warhorse when they released Kingdom Come... before they went woke. They mostly died off due to increasing budgets during the seventh generation but they've been making a small comeback with Kickstarter and private funding.

AA primarily refers to mid-market companies and games, ala Wukong, Space Marines 2, etc for some recent examples. If you need a movie example, Fight Club would be a good one.

AAA refers to big studios, e.g. Rockstar, Ubisoft, etx
Or in some cases with larger companies, AAAA games that can be $90cad or more despite any real difference between them and a AAA game other than higher budget but less effort put into it and full of cash shops and other bullshit for even more money. Rockstar wants their next GTA game to be close to $150cad before deluxe editions and digital collectors.

So, In my opinion, woke is synonymous with bad writing.

It seems like everyone has different opinions about what "Woke" means" but personally - Woke is when a writer's personal agenda or politics interferes with the integrity and immersion of a story to push their ideology over serving the purpose of the product.
It's because they have too many pieties that must be honored. It has to "center" LGBT and POC, it can't promote "fascism" (read, anything to the right of Noam Chomsky) and it all has to fight climate change somehow. I'm being hyperbolic but you get the point.

I haven't seen anyone post this here. EA officially stated in their press release that the game performed below 50% of approximated expectations. They hoped it would sell 3 million copies, but it sold 1.5 million. Bioware is most likely getting axed.
