That's pretty ironic given Dr Insano is one of the better characters to come out of the Channel Awesome crew overall, but Spoony probably made the right call given how bad the writing in all the Nostalgia Critic movies is.
Yeah but when a character is popular that's what people want to see. People liked Dr. Insano and it was a guaranteed way for a video to get views if he was in it.

This I never understood. Why is Dr. Insano, a stock trope character, created and played by someone else, the main antagonist of his make-believe world? I mean surely if he liked the character so much he should have made his own mad scientist character instead of playing the same character note-for-note. I mean this is Lewis: he's retarded and he can't write worth shit; but if he's had a bug up his ass about being far more talented and creative than Doug, then surely a little bit of originality would have helped his case...

I think that has more to with Linkara being heavily autistic than any particular fascination with Dr. Insano's character.
He was dating a pre-op tranny(who looked more like a man than linkara) who was also on channel awesome(Iron Liz), who left him because Linky was more interested in playing with the pre-op dick than anything else in the relationship(and as such likely wouldn't be interested in them once they got their dick inverted into an axe wound).
That's because Lewis can't do anything original. Everything he's done is derivative of something else.
It's because everything that happens in Lewis' skits are canon so when he and Spoony were doing a review of one of the Warrior comics, a comic based on the Ultimate Warrior, there was an accident in "hypertime" and Dr. Insano became Dr. Linksano and Linkara became possibly "Spoonkara".

I didn't say the show was good. I said it was much more enjoyable than the comic book. It's like instead of getting kicked in the balls you're just mildly annoyed by a fly buzzing about your head. Granted I've only seen the first season and I'm in no hurry to see the next one.
Did you see The Warrior comic crossovers he did with Spoony? Then you've got a pretty good idea of what he does, though I think Spoony co-wrote those which is why they have some funnier moments.
