Trade War 2025 - You get tariffs and you get tariffs, tariffs for everyone!

I mean, to be honest, I've dealt with drug addicts, and they deserve some of the blame for their troubles. It's not always the dealer's fault, even though Ross wasn't one himself.
Then why do the drug addicts need trade tariffs to protect them from big bad Canadian and Mexican fentanyl?

With this choice, Trump has effectively destroyed the right for decades.

Sorry, call me a pessimist, but starting a trade war with 2 close trade partners after running on a campaign of "we'll make things cheap", over very vague demands about primarily social problems, is probably the single worst decision a president has made in my lifetime. You know the one universal thing everyone gives a fuck about? Money, and this is exactly what's going to make people freak out.

Not to mention, long term, this is just going to send countries running to China, Russia, or other nations that don't flip out and threaten tariffs when they don't immediately get their way.
Globalism is over I guess. Trump wants things to go back before when America started outsourcing to Japan and Hong Kong and the innovators went to work for the MIG/NASA. I don't know if it can happen but who knows...

Then why do the drug addicts need trade tariffs to protect them from big bad Canadian and Mexican fentanyl?
I'm not necessarily supportive of the tariffs, and I think Congress should have never surrendered its authority, under the Constitution, that gave the president the power to place them so unilaterally. Border Patrol and the DEA need more funding and agents to deal with the problem. Drug addicts should be forcefully institutionalized.

I am cautiously optimistic about this. These tariffs obviously suck and they're going to damage our economy even further, but this downturn might convince the pajeets to go back home because it's not worth coming to Canada anymore. I hope we can weather the storm until the federal election.

Or you know they can just take a 3rd option and just stop doing business with the US and increase trade deals with other nations.
To be honest, I think this is the best idea I have read all day. 100% they should do that.

BTW, where do you find refineries that can handle albertas tar sand outside of continental us? Good luck canada, alberta's economy is about to collapse.
Please please make true of the promise to stop exporting energy to the us. See what happens. See what happens.

This is the greatest time to be alive. First Germany decides to commit economical suicide by fucking their energy supply. Now Canada wants to MAID their economy too. Please God, let France be next.

I honestly hope that the Canadian tariffs hurt a lot.
I know realistically that it won't hurt the right people but I'm tired of the Canadian people enabling and continually voting in such a farce of a political elite. Endless blank checks written out at the expense of our culture, our heritage, and our future because Canada has lacked an existential threat for too long, and our people are content to clap like seals at the most sickeningly turgid theatrics and swallow down the most bare-faced lies.
I hope we get so bent over the barrel that we finally realize that exporting crude to US refineries only to buy it back after is fucking retarded and that bringing that industry home would be pretty neat.

"Firearms, bombs, grenades, torpedoes, mines, missiles" notwithstanding, this all looks like stuff that's going to affect the average consumer the most, though thankfully domestic food production should soften the blow of the food tariffs listed in the first section. Some people might have a lot less variety in their diets if they want to keep costs low but it should be survivable.
The rest of it is a lot of finished products that may or may not have equivalent domestic alternatives in the first place.

I plan on switching my diet to 3 steaks a week and a chicken from my local butcher, Italian bread, broccoli, cucumber, Havarti cheese, and maybe strawberries from my local grocery store, and then a weekly bottle of Milagro tequila from my local small liquor store. Fuck chips, fuck snacks, fuck frozen food, fuck the vast majority of our food hierarchy. I throw a bag of trash every 11ish or more days. I think it will be interesting to see this possibly play out in the courts. Because the tariffs were done by E.O., it's very likely they could be challenged in court. A company could sue the Trump administration arguing the tariffs are arbitrary and capacious in court using the economic damages for standing. There were already several EOs, passed by Trump, that were frozen by judges already. I'd like to see the Supreme Court's theory on tariff authority. There doesn't seem to be precedent for these types of tarriffs using the IEEPA. I think it may fail the Major Question's doctrine test.

This is a pretty good summary of the current laws that are on the book and what authority they grant the President re imposing tariffs.

DXY IS ALMOST AT 110, 1% in a day ... if it goes to 112 well it is what it is got cash?

If the Mexican papers are correct, Sheinbaum seems to want some kind of private talks. Up until now she has been under pressure from her cartel friends and hasn't had to deal with the Mexican business community. The 25% tariffs seems to have lit a fire under their ass. As powerful as the cartels are, they are nothing compared to Mexican businessmen, especially those in the auto industry. That's not even mentioning the Japanese and Korean businesses that invested in the area. Honestly surprising that an actual marxist Jew is less retarded than Castro Jr.

If shit hits the fan, I fully expect all of northern Mexico to go into private talks with Trump.

Congress didn't surrendered it's authority as the executive branch never forced them to hand it over to begin with. What Congress did, however, was abdicating that authority and, more importantly, the responsibility and accountability that came with it to the executive branch.

According to the BBC, there shall be EU tariffs (archive). Toss me rainbows on this one since that might just be the threat to force Denmark to give Greenland over or something, but we're going to see the collapse of the global system possibly at this rate... If Trump burns it all down this is going to be a glorious shitshow.
US President Donald Trump has hinted the European Union (EU) could be next to face tariffs, after he slapped 25% levies on goods from Mexico and Canada, and an additional 10% tax on imports from China.

While arriving into Maryland from Florida, Trump told the BBC that tariffs on EU goods imported into the US could happen "pretty soon".

"They don't take our cars, they don't take our farm products, they take almost nothing and we take everything from them. Millions of cars, tremendous amounts of food and farm products," he told journalists.

The US President added he enjoyed good relations with British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, and that trade issues with the UK could be worked out.

When asked by the BBC if there was a timeline for announcing tariffs on the European bloc, Trump said: "I wouldn't say there's a timeline, but it's going to be pretty soon."

For its part, the 27-member bloc has condemned Trump's decision to move ahead with tariffs against Canada, Mexico and China, and warned that it will "respond firmly" if it also becomes a target.

Mexico and Canada have vowed to take retaliatory measures, while China said it could take "corresponding counter measures".

On trade with the UK, the US President said the country has been "out of line" but added that the issues could be resolved.

"The UK is out of line. But I'm sure that one, I think that one, can be worked out," Trump said.

The US President also discussed his relationship with the British Prime Minister who he said has been "very nice".

"We've had a couple of meetings. We've had numerous phone calls. We're getting along very well," he added.

Not one day too early.
Europe has blocks preventing many american car brands from being on sale in Europe.
Tariff those fucking german cars at 100%. The job is not done until every single car factory in germany has shut down.
Excited to see the inevitable future r/fuckcars thread crossposts with faggots bitching about American cars for the billionth time because of this

God I hope this happens just to watch Europoors finally realize their irrelevance in the 21th century
