My favorite comment of the bunch. I thought for a moment they were being tongue-in-cheek, but no... it's just yet another redditor convinced the sky is falling... any day now. Completely oblivious to how racist they are in a "As a superior white person I must protect the helpless poor dumb black person! Don't they know their life is LITERALLY in danger?" kind of way.

ETA - didn't mean to doublepost, edited in this post to my previous but apparently I'm retarded and it didn't take.

Guys, we need to stop joking around. This is serious. This is people's livelihoods. This IRS agent is terrified of what's going to happen if he gets audited. Imagine how it would feel to have some bureaucratic asshole with a god-complex going through your records and criticizing every minor mistake, with the threat of financial punishments looming over your head. This poor tax examiner probably has difficulty sleeping at night with all the stress. Nobody deserves this.

I’m curious if the offer is being made because they intend to drastically cut the federal work force, so the decision facing Ted the Fed is get $50k and eight months to find a new job or get fired in few months anyway. Because most people would not take an offer like this if they thought their position was secure. (Hold the Line equals β€œI want to keep my well paid job with great benefits”)

I do worry the intent is just to fire a bunch of feds and then hire new feds who take Trump loyalty oaths.

I worry Trump wants to run the federal govt like the old Dem party machine in NYC that he knew very well. Political patronage and city jobs. A political boss could ensure half his family had city jobs and were 100% loyal to the machine. Trump liked and worked well in that system, that’s why he was a NY Democrat for most of his adult life.

The offer was a generous carrot.
Next comes the stick.

You know, watching these people seethe and mald makes me feel poetic. I often feel like Songs are great at capturing moments in time, and I think no better patriotic song captures this moment as a literal revolution drops on Washingon DC's heads and all these swamp creatures are completely powerless to stop it despite their desperate grasping efforts, then "Battle Cry of Freedom".

It was a short list contender for the US National Anthem, but in the end was rejected (along with the Battle Hymn) because it wasn't "unifying" in the way the Star Spangled Banner was. Its a song about there explicitly being domestic enemies to the American nation that needed to be fought by the American People. That the American people, when the Union is pushed to the brink by traitors, must rally around the flag and lift up the Stars.

8-months severance is fucking awesome BTW, I remember being insanely jealous when somebody I knew got laid off with 3. These people have *8 months* to find a new job in the private sector, and if anybody asks why they left they can just blame doritos hitler. If you find another job early you get to collect two salaries for eight months. If you don't find another job early you get 8 months to play CoD or pursue whatever passion-projects you never had time for when you were working. That they think they're getting a raw deal just goes to show you how lazy and entitled these fucks truly are.

It’s not that great of a deal when you consider that they aren’t really working. It means they might have to do shit 8 months from now and that’s icky and capitalist.

Why would you ever disclose your government job on social media, let alone fucking reddit? Can't you just vaguepost about your career frustrations like normal people?

Posting that you work for the Fed Agency and/or a defense contractor is the quickest way to get CCP Pussy if you live on the west coast.

This is serious.

You’d think feds of all people would know not to overly share and rant online. Especially on their work computers, I assume.
80% of these people are know-nothing do-nothings that can't hack it in the private sector and sit on their ass all day.
Facebook isn't auto blocked by work computers plugged into office drops, unlike many other sites depending on the flavor of fed.
Know several contractors turned fed who were worth something when they worked contracts, so much that the fed PMs tailored a position to hire them fed, and once they got in I assume the magic fed oath turned their brains to mush, because they spend 90% of their day chatting on FB with their peasant friends and Teams with their elite fed family, and 10% responding to emails, putting their name on something a contractor did so they can put it on their annual review as an accomplishment to get a higher grade, or strategizing dumb power plays that often backfire but have little consequence.

Many of the nepo-feds are serially involved in scandalous behavior that their much more powerful and respected family member has to threaten underlings and make deals with others to cover up. Some of the greatest hits include: smuggling weed onto the premises for an extra-long lunch hour smoked in gov truck and hiding the smell with fart spray; a certain "princess" with an entry level title responding to being tasked with basic filing by a high level office manager: "you're NOT my mom!" on government email; and the same princess after getting a slap on the wrist, carrying on an affair with the married lead security officer and using the department carpool van as their personal shaggin wagon on camera for two years; one guy took 12k lbs of copper scrap off premises to sell for the department christmas party that was cancelled but he did get a nice new shiny Harley from his "wife" that year. None of these people were fired or given formal reprimand.

As someone who's probably going to lose his job, I'm not a fed, I just do things for the feds; you don't hate these people enough. First of all, whether you like him or hate him, Elon is part of the government and most likely his taskforce is as well; so the whole "these aren't government" cries are just lashing out, because these are cushy job retards who lucked out into a government civilian role where the only way to be fired is to bring a gun in and kill someone with a dozen witnesses. People retire and only if they grow tired of the grind, no one leaves because the positions give you good money and since you're a government civilian, it's almost impossible to get rid of you, and the process to replace you is a fucking nightmare joke. You will never meet a more entitled useless fucking breather than anyone at a GS-10 or higher position. The go to a handful of meetings a day, then sit around on permanent coffee break and answer emails as they come in, all for the low low cost of at least six-figures and a guaranteed pension for doing 20 years (they do a lot longer). You could easily fire at least 30% of these people and shit wouldn't change; they may actually have to do some work though.
My favourite unless breather experience was a GS-12 giving a talk to a room of 300+ about the new core values her little handpicked team of "leaders in training" had taken 6 months to come up with and make a powerpoint for.
"Accountability. Hmmm [pause] what can I say about accountability.... [long pause] What does accountability mean? You all know what it means right? [longer pause, murmurs amongst crowd] Accountability is something we all learn about as kids, right? You do the right thing. [long pause] You know what isn't the right thing? Gossiping about leadership. We have a serious problem with gossip here and need to take some accountability. [you could hear a pin drop in the room] Okay, I'll have to circle back to this one, next slide."

All these people getting fired or quitting and I'm over here wondering if I can get a government job.
Will Elon migrate government websites from away from PHP and Drupal?
Can we get a Department of Python Programmers?
Or rebuild all of the websites using some autistic new /g/ approved javascript framework?

>feds being upset over being put on lists, stalked, investigated and potentially fired for wrongthink
fucking lol, now that's karma ain't it

that aside you guys really think all this talk about how they're gonna be AI detected and singled out as a liability and what not is paranoia? sure, maybe it is, but these ARE federal agents after all, maybe this is all a sign that they know something and we should be writing this stuff down
