I want the legislative branch to be a JUNIOR member of the government, your powers of the purse have been changed. you should have used the responsibility better and treated it with more respect

It's especially rich, given the fact that Congress signed away a significant amount of their power to the Executive Branch after Iraq.
They didn't want the responsibility of unpopular decisions to prevent their re-election, so they gave up their responsibilities (and therefore their power) to Obama and let him assume all of the risk. They have nobody to blame but themselves for being unable to stop Trump now.

I think it's just as likely that he's trying to keep his job. Fetterman is up for reelection in 2028 which will be a presidential election year as well. PA is very much in play and the Republicans just unseated Bob Casey who was a senator there for nearly two decades. Fetterman is nowhere near as secure in his own position and if he followed the standard Democrat playbook it's likely that he would lose.

Fetterman is fucked in '28 most likely. Scott Presler does not care how "moderate" he is and is going to work his ass off to get him out even if Fetterman goes full DINO.
Only way he'll edge out a victory is if the Republican candidate is hilariously bad (keep in mind, McCormick won despite being a hedge fund CEO who funded tranny surgeries for his employees, on top of other controversies, so we're talking worse than that), Scott spreads himself too thin with his announced work on places like NJ, VA, and AK, or the country crashes and burns in the next 4 years.

I just got into an irl argument with a friend who previously was able to hold a civil conversation with me about politics. He kept going on an on about Trump’s ”fascist rhetoric” and how he was going to denaturalize all immigrants because of the EO against birth right citizenship. When I told him that was not what was happening he got emotional and said he was a second generation (European) immigrant and was going to be targeted (huh?). I pointed out Trump and Vance both had immigrant wives but apparently they are protected from any fascist rulings because they are “rich”. He said private billionaires shouldn’t be in the government.

My neighbor also ran up to me yesterday and said I need to call my representative like he did to “fight fascism!”

I think people that have this mentality at this point are impossible to reason with. I don’t think they are capable of rationalizing or critically thinking anymore, sadly.
