Mega Rad Gun Thread

I really love some of the early automatics, like the C96, Luger, etc. Some of those early autos are just works of art.
its because they were hand build for the most part. they came from the late 19th century when machining was very expensive and hand labor was very cheap. now machining is basically free and hand labor is very expensive. its why the new Luger costs 5,000 dollars.

Even in it's hayday Lugers were on the more expensive side because machine or hand toggle locks are kinda a bitch to make and deal with.

Not disagreeing just throwing in that tidbit.

He didn't even strip the finish on it, he can blend all he wants but I don't think we're passing xray with this bros.... Especially since it didn't fully penetrate..... After seeing this I have nothing but high expectations for his own product that costs 6500. I want to say I can't believe he posted this shit but god damn bro.
As I was about to post this, someone asked about the weld quality and this was his response.

Guess that shows he's aware of Matt(Fuddbusters) dunking on him for his weird shit. Outing his own poor workmanship like that is hilarious, does he really think that's acceptable?
"hurr durr im the vss guy now" his customer could have gone to an autobody shop and had better welds done, good grief.

I suck at tig so i can affirmatively say those tig welds are ass. With the thickness of the metal, probably could have done Flux-core, gotten the penetration, and it'd be perfectly strong. Yeah he'd have to clean it up afterwards, fluxcore isn't the cleanest process, but at his skill level, he is not suited for Tig.

I call it “Israel-KeyesMaxxing”.
He's a revolver bro, so literally me lol.

Not quite.
It would be more accurate to say they were hand fit. Early handguns like that were absolutely produced on machines with jigs and set tolerances and such. (Excepting prototypes and preproduction copies and such)
A Hand Made/Built gun is a gun made entirely, or almost entirely by hand, i.e. with hand tools such as files, hand drills, chisels, etc. Some examples would be the Nepalese Gahendra rifles, chinese warlord pistols, Khyber Pass guns, Vietnamese made firearms, etc.
A Hand Fit gun is a gun that is made mostly, or entirely with machines, but has some, often though not always key, parts fit in by hand. The best example of an entirely hand fit gun is the ruby pistols. Theyre all made to the same basic pattern with varying amounts of machine work, but often parts do not interchange and are individual to each gun. Other examples include Luger toggles, upper and lower frames, and triggers, which are all hand fit to each serialized gun. Hanyang 88s are also know for being somewhat hand fit, as certain parts dont drop in and need extra stoning to fit correctly. SMLE bolt heads are also hand fit to each rifle (which is why when you swap bolts/boltheads in those rifles you really need to check headspace and bolthead threads)

None of this matters when you don't clean your surface for a proper weld, I still can't wrap my head around why he didn't do this. He will have to refinish it anyways.
Bitch, have you heard of a angle grinder? Buff that finish off, then weld you fucking retard, no wonder the Tig welds were ass, you introduced impurities into the weld!

Dad bought one in July or August through Silencer Central and it showed up yesterday. Idk what fast times people are on about, definitely pretty standard times I'd say
If you look at the r/NFA monthly approval megathread Some form 4s come back within a month, many within a week. There are still some that take a few months but its definitely nothing like before.

As someone who has done some dirty shit welds in my life, let me tell you, it absolutely will compromise the gun to have shitty welds. Even if you grind them. If we're lucky this guy will blow his fingers off trying to testfire one of these things before he manages to sell them to people and cause way more mayhem.

It was a somewhat recent change. Any before this system change would still be slow. Many people have theirs approved in just a day or hours even. Mostly now a week or more. Down for almost a year it used to be. Also if you filed as a trust instead of an individual it's typically longer. Individuals are the fastest

Well it was a month or two after I heard everything was fast, which I think was the summer. He did individual I think, it's his first can, he's been pissed about the wait like 10 minutes after filling out the stuff

400% your dude ship. I love all things that are that era when a new idea comes and everyone tries an different idea. Like first fuel injection on cars, first revolvers on guns etc. No one is quite sure how to do it and because there's not accepted standard each has to be a short or hand made run. The entire brass era not just guns is my jam.

I live near Lugerman and have visited him nicest guy so polite. Out of my range. My dad has 22 erma luger. It's just amazing all around. At the time we didn't know blow back works or have the ideas from JMB so tried blow forward... it's so cool.

I blame star wars why I can't afford the early autos I want lol.

Funny enough there's a very good chance my next gun I'll have sat will be either some random hi power or that Spanish destroyer. (best name ever)

I've got a Stoeger .22lr Luger that I originally bought for my father-in-law and inherited when he passed away. He had a family member who brought back a Luger from WWII. I couldn't afford to buy him a real Luger, so I bought him a surplus P38 and the .22lr Luger. It's nowhere near as nice as the real deal since it's mostly stamped metal instead of machined, but it does have the toggle action. Maybe one day I'll be able to get a real Luger or a C96.

I love vintage guns. My hope is to one day add some vintage guns to my collection. Aside from the Luger and C96, I'd really like to get a Winchester Model 71, basically a modernized (for the early 20th century) Winchester 1886 in .348 Winchester, a Winchester 1895 in either .30-06 or .405 WCF (I'd settle for a modern reproduction), something in 8mm Mauser like a Kar-98, Gew-43, or Hakim, an M1903 Springfield, and some more vintage S&W N Frames. I'd also like to get some vintage .22s like the S&W 41 and Winchester 63.

Edit: the only vintage guns I have right now are a Smith and Wesson Model 57 from 1968, a Browning BL22 from 1973, and a Rrmington 700 .30-06 from (I think) the 60s that was my dad's hunting rifle.
