I'm going to be honest, I have no strong opinions about this game whatsoever.

Fwiw, i don't think that's a good thing. I love rpgs, i like obsidian games (yes, even the outer worlds). I haven't seen anything about this game that I think looks good or bad. It just looks like a game to me.

I feel like the average consumer probably feels the same. It's a "I might check it out on gamepass" game.

It wasn't just disappointing. It was disappointing for a specific reason.

That being, the entire game was journo bait. All the big features were in the first two hours. ie. The part lazy journos play for review. Things like people commenting on your armour only appear in the early game and never again.

Yeah the first planet that you start the game on is the only good part of the game and vast majority of people I know irl never best it including myself, the ones that did don't hold the game in high regard either.

I like describe Outer Worlds as the most 5/10 game ever made. Everything in Outer Worlds functions and does everything as intended, but it's all the bare minimum possible. Being mediocre in all aspects essentially makes you just dreadfully boring as you need to excel at at least one thing to be memorable or enjoyable.

Morrowind? Morrowind is almost as overhyped as New Vegas.
GTA 4 and Red Dead Redemption 2 are two games that instantly come to mind that have much better writing than New Vegas and also can be played without modding it to death.

I bought Extinction a while ago on a whim since it was super cheap, I had to stop unfortunately as real life called and pretty much barred me from playing anything and I eventually forgot about it until you just mentioned it, so thanks for reminding me it exists. They're making a third one but they might be trying to make it similar to Palworld but keeping it PG, I could be horrifically wrong as there's almost nothing to go on, their only video on their steam page is just this.


And the screenshots, again, aren't much to go on. They also changed the studio handle on steam for some reason but it's annoying.

I’ve just finished the first one. Very fun but SUPER mobile game feeling. Which it apparently was and Extinction was released on Console and got so popular they ported the first game to console with some improvements. I was super confused why the first one was Series X/S formatted but the sequel wasn’t. I got both for cheap and I’m excited to play the second one. I’ve heard it’s an improvement on the first in almost every way.

I hope not. I think they’re making it like the Switch Pokémon games. The other two games weren’t like PalWorld so don’t do that with this one please Devs.
 
I feel bad for anyone who paid to get early access. Sounds like this shit is utter slop. I'll wait until it's on Game Pass on Tuesday to try it out.
 
Early access is just another way for them to charge extra for releasing a game on what is essentially the actual release date, for the illusionary FOMO-tinged privilege of "being first in line".

People should stop paying for something as meaningless as "early access".

I don't. At this point it's way past when you could just claim you just wanted good game and didn't pay attention to what's going on, people are so willfully ignorant if they're still buying games that it's entirely their fault, like the people who kept buying and complaining about the sports games every year despite knowing full well they didn't get anything new in the past ten years besides roster updates thus having to buy the same loot boxes every year to get your sports guys back.

Not only do people like that keep making the entire industry worse, they get buttmad when you even suggest they should change their habits to unshit things, many will even run defense for shit products for fucking free.
