Wendigoon Thread

I had good timing today, finished a video and went to my subs tab less than a minute after the video went up. I have notifications enabled but they usually don't come until a video's been out for 2-3 hours
How bad was that other story that they had to go on such a long rant about positivity and shit?

Sounds like it was an author suggesting his own story too that's even worse. They really gotta stop taking those kind of requests if they're so worried about hurting a fan's feelings

E;
Man that was wild. In a way it's kind of like 1999 (even set in Canada, too), except way better. Solid top 10 story all around.
Loved the concept that we never actually made anything new with the internet, that all we really did was tap into an existing system and built our infrastructure inside there. There's other things there that we didn't make and we don't know what they are, but we can access them from within the depths of our own internet is so awesome that I don't think we've really seen used all that much. In a way kind of like the backrooms, but digital. Todash space. Where cosmic and other kinds of horrors emerge from now that we know so much about space: now they are from another plane entirely, accessible only through digital space.

Also loved the twist at the end. I was really wondering what the author was gonna do to make this all worthwhile, how he was going to tie this all together, and this is good enough for that. By that point the story had gone on long enough and became so convoluted that any dumb reveal would have instantly ruined everything.

Only problem is that the narrator never physically enters into the hole from what I can tell looking back. That leads me to believe that he's actually in The Hole the entire story. Ever since he found the page in his teens, his mind was hijacked and himself transferred to the "anti-internet," basically a mirrored version of his own reality that's just slightly different. All the weird bizarre moments with Angelica and the time travel stuff is just whatever intelligence (the dog?) that is controlling this messing with the protagonist to eventually get him to keep going deeper and deeper into The Hole for some unknown purpose. I don't even thing The Egyptian is real, maybe in this anti-reality, but not in his own.

Tales from the Gas Station started really charming, but it's literally the same joke for 3 hours. I wish it was an anthology instead.
I liked the episode and stories, but I do know I zone out hard at the last about hour or so of it. So I'm not going to die on any hill defending it because it obviously goes on too long.

I haven't watched the video here, but the Hidden Webpage is one hell of a mixed bag. Parts of it are genuinely unnerving in a way that most creepypasta just isn't anymore, but it has two major problems. First, with all the references to specific older technology like ICQ, it seriously limits its own audience. Now I happen to be of the right generation and technical bent to appreciate it, but zoomers aren't going to care or understand. Second, none of the threads tie to together at the end. The story seems like it's going somewhere, and then it just... ends. How much of it was real? How many of the individual plot threads had any real significance rather than just being some random part of this strange, dream-like experience? It's not at all clear.

The author has been promising to write a sequel for years, which I will read if it ever actually happens. It's not looking good though.

I like the weird, disconnected dream-like feel of it (but that's probably me, since I love Serial Experiments Lain, like I can practically hear the powerlines from the series in my head during some of the scenes), though I'll admit, as a young man, a good amount of the old school lingo is more or less lost on me, and even the the guys reading. But in prose and creating an uneasy, practically alien atmosphere, it's pretty high up above a lot of the stories they've covered here.

It's easy to make things mysterious when the audience doesn't know what you're talking about. Trannies watching Lain going "I can hear the power line buzz!" don't have any experience with power line buzz or isolation during the early 90 to late 2000s. They're discord niggers doom scrolling twitter or bluesky. They have never experienced what the story is expressing and can't grasp what it was like to live in an era where the internet was an unknown space slowly swallowing up normal society.

Analog horror and much of the retro styling zoomers cling to is routed in the fear of not living in the current era. The idea that you could be alone with no way to communicate scares them because they've always had a telephone in their pocket and can always reach out to their internet friends. They have never felt truly alone and the idea is scary enough where an empty office or a hallway with no one in is is peak horror to them. The fetishistic way they cling to VHS filters and apply it to every thing to make it scary to them has nothing to do with how scary it is or what it brings to the table. The entire modern amateur horror genre is "What if I didn't have a smart phone!?" mixed with "and the glowies are watching me my discord friends won't believe it!!" The VHS is short hand for "before the current year" and nothing to do with VHS or any other technology of the era is ever relevant to the story. It's short hand for pre-smart phone safety without having to insert some corny dialog for why your phone doesn't work when a monster starts killing people.

One of the smartest things Scream ever did was making the portable phone a death sentence. While most families were getting a phone to keep with them for emergencies (one per family, and you would share it as needed) they flipped it so it was how the killer first got to you. If a creepy pasta writer tried to write a scream like story the phone would be connected to an alien flesh realm and the voice a dead baby because they completely lack an understanding of technology except to say the lack of discord and twitter on a device makes it mysterious and scary.

Loving this iceberg video so far. I really, really want him to do a video just on Revelation (unless there is one already and I've missed it). I think videos like this are when he's his best.
I remember him mentioning that he wants to do a special Weird Bible Podcast episode focused on it and other prophecies from the Old Testament, but i might be wrong.

The constant references to porn and masturbation in recent Creepcasts makes me question how much of a "Christian" Isaiah really is. American Protestants are known for being lukewarm, and it does make me wonder what a self-professed devout Baptist has it common with open coomers like Hunter and Charlie/MoistCr1tikal.

Edit: Tbh when Isaiah bent the knee to troons on his stream saying he "totally supported the LGBTQ" that should have been my tip off.

Feels more to me like he just doesn’t want to push back that much against Hunter and wants to just go with the flow. It’s not like it’s against Christian beliefs to make jokes. Wendi doesn’t seem like he enjoys confrontation or to make people upset so him saying he supports the whatever’s and makes some jokes aren’t really that big of a deal. I mean content creators do worse things and it’s not like he has a tranny flag behind him at all time. But I mean if you don’t like the content or him I think you’re within your rights to feel how you feel, just saying is all.

If I was given the chance to go on creepcast I'd bully hunter and wendi in BRUTAL and unforgiving fashion.

I got the impression Wendi is hiding his power level. You don't have this kind of gun experience and exposure to all the glowie stories without leaning hard into libertarian or right wing politics. I bet if you got a few beers in him he would call you a faggot like the rest of us would. His on screen persona isn't who he is IRL and that's pretty common for most people on the platform. From what we see of his real personality he likes to joke around, shoot guns and leads a mostly conservative life style. That type of person does not care if you say faggot or nigger, they know it's banter and as long as you're a cool dude they're a cool dude.

I'm not sure how I feel about this story, the fugue state was definitely conveyed well but I'll have to ruminate on the general writing and its overall coherence. At the very least I enjoyed the old-internet pastiche.

Would you pwn them w/ facts and logic?

Most Christians (or frankly any religion that isn't being actively persecuted in the given location) are tepid with their adherence with only a select few having the fervor of a monk or a martyr. If anything, I've encountered more dedicated Christians from America (and American Protestantism in particular) than anywhere else I've visited/lived. I'd love to visit whichever country you have in mind where every single person who calls him/herself a Christian is as devout as the apostles.

Everything you said is irrelevant to what I wrote. It's Isaiah himself who consistently brings up his faith, the fact that he's a Sunday School teacher and how he's so devout that he won't say the F word, but will constantly bring up material that would be sinful and more scandalous and publicly disavows traditional Christian sexual ethics.

I'm just going to say I find the "Is Wendi a REAL Christian" really faggy. You guys are on this fucked fucker forum instead of doing shit. Shut up already. Just go "I didn't like that joke" like the rest of us sinners you faggot.
My comment was more of an observation that a lot of what Isaiah paints himself as is not fully authentic, which I personally find distasteful. Really I wanted to see what other users thought as, while I enjoy a lot of Wendigoon's content, there is a dissonance between his "wholesome Christian chungus" persona and the person he comes across as on more non-scripted content, doubly so when you look at his Internet associates. If that doesn't bother you or you find the comment uninteresting, that's fine. You're the one getting offended that I made a passing criticism of an Internet figure you like on a thread dedicated to discussing his content - this is KF, not Reddit, where potential criticism of thread figures is beyond the pale.

No hate man I was just saying I've seen the "Is Wendi real Christian/Real boy/Actually this" enough to find it lame/faggy. That's my opinion. Have yours and have conversations about that.

Wendi is entirely in line with most devout Christians, including Catholics and Orthodox, that I’ve hung out with. You can tell the overtly sexual shit annoys him when it’s pushed too far and especially when Hunter makes an gay or masturbatory joke he is actually bothered by jut but he’s not above laughing at an off-color joke, and he’s socially savvy enough to not sperg out when Hunter goes to far, he just tries to push it back to less terrible grounds. Yes, you can be a miserable scold that berates everyone for making remarks you find offensive, or you can roll your eyes, fire off a polite “fuck you”, try to set a better example, and pray for their souls in your free time. One of those is far more productive in the long run.

Wendigoon must have the patience or a saint. Especially lately I've been getting the vibe that Hunter would only be good for hanging out with in small doses. Hang out with him all day and you'll be looking for an excuse to rock his shit because of his overly edgy teenage sense of humor is going to get extremely old at some point and Hunter seems like he'll keep pushing the envelope when he knows someone is actually getting annoyed. He's beginning to remind of me of people I knew that thought they were the "class clown" but really they were just fucking annoying and no one was forward enough to tell them to shut the fuck up, so that meant everyone thought he was great.
I still like Hunter, but his demeanor has changed a lot over the last half year or so

ETA: he seems like a different kinda guy since the October creep cast tour
