Imagine bragging about how cool your $100 game is, because it lets you sit with your eyes closed and listen to an audio file of a voice actor who reminds you of a man you had a crush on in a much better game. This man gets paid to do this.

To be fair, it beats being humiliated when you're tasked with covering a game that requires some modicum of skill. Like say, Cuphead, a game that even a pigeon could play(but a game journo couldn't).

Max's stuff was clearly the best part, from the lines to his story about religion its all the highlight of the game, its also why he has the most involved companion quest, and unlike the rest of the crew its not a silly mess.

Also, the "male leader" of the first town is a corporate stooge retard while the "old hippie girlboss" is a psychotic cannibal who makes it clear she will intentionally let people from the town die out of spite if you side with her

beyond that he's basically the only person who's part of the corporation that clearly gives a fuck, the second he finds out the cannibal bitch was right he willingly steps down.

That game is aging better every single year, especially if the studio that made is now starting to resemble Spacer's Choice of gaming: "You tried the best RPGs, now try the rest! Obsidian Studios!"

i said this to you in a different thread but if it came out 20 years earlier it would be considered a GOAT game today. its writing was just that good. imagine the CRPG version of it released in 2007.

Its crazy looking back and seeing how much we loved bioshock when it had so character models and was basically just a console FPS that felt like your average PC FPS from a decade earlier.

TOW being some early 360 game would have made it way more beloved, same way crackdown is considered a hidden gem of that era. The story really was very forward thinking, at least in the West. I think South Africa has tons of stories about society degrading in the 90s.

It has great combat and fun exploration, but all the strengths of the previous games are greatly inferior.

It assumes people have played "Pillars of Eternity", and not many people have that I recall. Seemed to be kind of a niche title.

Yes, party CRPGs are a small niche, other than BG3, none of them came close in popularity to the Witcher or Skyrim. Not to mention the early-modern setting and non-stereotypical fantasy races are less plug+play storywise.

It’s completely redundant to say it at this point, but Mack/Worth A Buy’s review of this once again proved what a GIANT FUCKING FAGGOT he is.

One of the negative points he lists at the end of his review video is that Avowed is “woke“. Bitch please. There’s nothing particularly woke about this completely bland and unremarkable game apart from choosing pronouns in the character creator (cue Gaylord Vavra saying: “the pronouns are just a choice my friend. ThE cHaRaCtEr Is YoU!!!”).

Do I even need to compare this with Mack’s constant dick-sucking of KCD2 - a game which was probably designed by a committee at USAID (buttfucking, “muh Islamic civilisation”, girlbosses….the list goes on).

Apparently his game glitched and disabled all the movement except right and back. No moving left, no walking forward.

I want to make a thread on how utterly shit Steam reviews are. I played overwhelmingly positive rated games that were shit but got good reviews that were basically cope on how shit everything is but one element makes it passable.

I played fantastic Average rated games where half the reviews were bitching about the visual optimization in a no name indie creator.

Anyway. I got the chance to play this mediocre slop for free recently, and about 15 minutes after reaching the first town I just couldn’t go on.

For me the most on point comments about Avowed are the ones saying that it’s basically a single player MMO. Comparisons to Oblivion and Skyrim are stupid. But once you reach the first town, you quickly realise that this is basically just Elder Scrolls Online with better graphics. Oh and added climbing mechanics. But with all the actual elements that make ESO FUN missing (ie: the MM parts of MMO - doing quests with friends, joining guilds, PvP). Plus at least ESO has very deep lore that a lot of people are already invested in from Morrowind/Oblivion/Skyrim.

Whatever retard that thought people would pay $70 for a single player clone of ESO needs to be sacked immediately.

The most I can say is that some of the lore in Avowed actually does look pretty interesting, but there’s no way I’m going to play such a mediocre game just to explore the lore. When I have a lot of time on my hands I might actually play POE1 and POE2 to explore this lore further, but I’m never going to waste a single second of my life on Avowed again.

Edit: Something came up in my feed. Many A True Nerd, who made his channel on Fallout playthrus and has generally liked both Obsidian and Outer Worlds in the past, now has a SPONSORED Avowed video

It should be noted that he has done sponsored videos before, but I've never seen him shitting on a game that was sponsored. Speaking of which, I am seeing shilling for Avowed everywhere.
