I think regardless of what the initial definition for "anti" was, its being used in the same vein as retards who call anyone they don't remotely like a "nazi". Just take the recent example with BittyCat where there was VERY clear and public evidence of their misdeeds, and people who pointed it out like Harmful Opinions were called antis and had the evidence dismissed under that premise. I do appreciate you pointing this out though, since I was really confused about the specifics of the term. I couldn't tell if it was just meant to describe "anti-loli" or something else. As for his point on Null thinking all anime is sexual: A: that is Josh's opinion and you're never changing his mind on that, and B: having watched a fuck ton of anime, by and large, Anime does have a lot of 'sexual energy' western animation simply doesn't have. #notall, but its hard to find a show that doesn't at least have some innocuous booba and a few innuendos.

Western animation was designed to entertain children, and to my experience that didn't change until the 90's where they did a slow slide into more adult media(Bevis and Butthead dropped in 93, by late 99 we had ramped up to the nightmare of Cow and Chicken and Family Guy)
But even then, those two medias didn't necessarily mix. Plenty of cartoons edge the line between for kids and adult humor(Spongebob, catdog, basically anything popular and 90's), but nothing overtly adult was going on dedicated kid spaces(cartoon network, nickelodeon, boomerang, fourth example)
The market for adult animation basically grew and grew as far as I can tell, while still being clearly not for children. Hard to argue that something like Archer is for children for example.

I'm no expert, but as a westerner consuming anime I don't think you get dividing lines between the content of the media. Even with the oldest animes I can think of like Mobile Suit Gundam(1981), which was literally a vehicle to sell robot toys to children, you have this grim depiction of violence by and upon children(shout out to Amuro getting beat the fuck up by adults until he's willing to murder). The mediums had different trajectories because they were treated differently.

It's a bit deeper than that. Anime is meant for kids. Japanese and other Asian kids. Different set of taboos from the west. There are adult oriented anime, but the average Anime is built for teenagers mostly. Western cartoons have their standards, Anime has its standards, both due to their respective audiences.

I'd say roughly 80% of all kvetching about "censorship" discourse is just in regards to the toning down or removal of sexually enticing/explicit content, usually involving exposure of the female body. The rest is often just "localization" complaints about changes in script/dialog. In a very small handful of cases, it's valid. The rest of the time, it just feels like jumping at shadows.
