Is Terminator 2 actually woke?

Sarah Connor's speech to Dyson was cringe and blatant and very woke.

The rest might have been woke but it was good enough IDGAF even if it gets pointed out to me. Not sure if I'm happy or mad that modern propagandists have gotten so sloppy.

Are you slow? What part of a *fictional* mental breakdown and hating the man that lead to the creation of the machine which tried to kill you 7 years ago is woke?

Nigga go outside.

But Miles Dyson is not a bad person at all. And when she sees this they go with a backup plan and he sacrifices himself for the future.

The novels speak about how Sarah calls Miles Dyson a good man after his sacrifice and how Dyson's widow and son become close with the family and they even cover for them and explain them to people. I think in some of the novels, Dyson Jr still aids the Connor's in the conflict in the future.

The part where she started monologuing about motherhood was weird. I understand the context of her trauma reactions (the response to seeing Arnold was spot on), but that one felt like a rehearsed speech. IDK man, I wasn't even watching it to nitpick but that speech delivery felt wonky in a way that nothing else in the movie did.

That kinda ties to nigh-universally revered 90's inclusion, like Power Rangers, Recess or the Burger King Kids Club.

You have your classics, such as:
  • Black kid that probably likes basketball.
  • Future roller derby dyke that that definitely loves the other sports.
  • A latino boy by the name of Lingo. I assume that his X-TREME mutant power is speaking Spanish, unknown if he can speak English or if he's even a citizen.
  • Albert Einstein's bastard grandson.
  • The absolute coolest restaurant mascot to ever exist, Kid Vid.
  • A popular blonde girl... give her a camera I guess?
  • A cripple that they had the audacity to name "Wheels".
  • Their pet dog.

It was still inclusivity propaganda, but it seemed so much more well-intentioned than the goyslop from Current Year.

As far as T2, no opinion. I forget what OP said but it seemed kinda like a witch hunt, looking for clues where there aren't any. T2 was also before the Rodney King riots, so I don't know why Hollywood would be pandering to America's uppitiest people.

it's woke because its production was dependent on identical twins and that means they're implying identical twins have souls

How long ago did you find out about the twin thing? Also, would it have been weird to do the twin thing in the first movie where it was her who tried to kill her?

The stonetoss comic is kind of funny for the absurdity but also retarded as it's using the same argument people use to frame everything as "always woke/always political", literally letting the retards win. Different races doesn't equal woke, that's fucking retarded. These are americans who worked at black mesa in the fucking alien invaded repurposed ruins of european cities and the races actually have thought ut into them but in a way that doesn't override the character as literally just being that race as their thing. You don't see eli or alyx go on a trade bout being black and how it makes them a victim for reasons completely unrelated to the plot or character interactions, they're literally just fucking people.

As for T2 a ton of people in the thread beat me to the actual explanation of why "no, it's not".
When people used to unironical call them selves woke they basically used it to mean they where enlightened and it was there duty to wake people up and get them to the elevated true standard of morality of blindly accepting beautiful beared women with prostates, pregnant men and teaching babys how not to be racist.
No, that was the sarcastic usage. Woke originally literally meant "aware", usually applied to being aware of fucked up malicious shit being done by places of authority. I fucking hate the historical revisionism to act like it was always the eternal current year 'reclaimed" version.

Nobody has ever defined "woke". Can't we just go back to calling things cringe and faggotry when appropriate? Why do we have to kowtow to advertiser friendly vocabulary?

(I'm not calling Terminator cringe or faggotry here btw)
It's because it's running off several subversions and corruptions of a term originally meant as a "they woke up to the bigger picture" type shit. Basically the OG red pilled meme before the matrix and before politics grifter guys and pickup artists co-opted that one. During the mid-late 2010s into the 2020s it's ben anally raped and turned some fucked up verbal corpse skinsuit thneed type shit as a term usage wise.

A popular blonde girl... give her a camera I guess?
I'm pretty sure she was like a photography nerd or something like that from what i remember of the lore. Their names all kind of played into their character traits. It was always interesting to me how they gave these rando kid mascots lore and shit, someone probably put a lot of effort into them (i mean fuck look at kid vid).

Also you may notice wheel's wheelchair isn't a normal wheelchair but some fucking weird ass xmen shit. I don't remember if his wheelchair had gadgets or something in it but I wouldn't put it out of the question.

roughly around when it came out and the behind-the-scenes explained "the big trick to all those shots where there's two of them is that they're all twins"
I suspect Cameron picked his battles well for that, like "hrm, we want to bring back Linda, and she's got a twin..." similar to how the T-1000's abilities happened to be exactly what was easy to make look good in CG at the time

While T2's effects still hold up great to this day, I watched genisys over the weekend and you can see the 20 years in tech advance.

And genisys is turbo woke. Talks about hurting a terminators feelings and not to call him old. The t1000 is an Asian (fine with me), the younger Sarah is a crybaby, Kyle Reese is a bigger crybaby. How people can even compare T2 to T5 is baffling.

I believe the movie you're talking about is Terminator Dark Fate, where they killed off John Connor and replaced him with a stunning & brave Latinx womb-possessor.

No. Sarah earned her strength. Those guards were largely out of shape slobs iirc. She also earned her rage at Miles, even if it was a little misplaced. I can't blame her for being a little bit unhinged.

Black science man is woke though, I'll give you that.

Sarah rambling about pregnancy being a woman's strength would actually piss liberals off now though, even back then probably. Incredibly based film.

if you think about it all he is doing is stealing future tech so kind of racist tbh
I never thought of it like that. Miles Dyson is one of the few 20th century visual media (movie/televison) portrayals of a booksmart black man, and even he's doing a complicated form of IP theft.

Who designed the chip in the original timeline, before Arnold was sent back in T1? Was there an original engineer or was Dyson always copying his own homework? The ending of T3 kind of suggests the idea of sealed fate, like going back in time is pointless unless the events you would cause already happened, and you go back to make sure they happen, so I know self-feeding loops aren't new to the series.
