Jesus, Peebee is fugly. I don't know what the hell they were thinking with that raccoon mask.

So far all of the potential romance options look like shit tbh.

Isn't the ugliness intentional because beauty standards or some shit?

Also "awful romance options" isn't really a new thing for BW games.

Would explain Cora's blatant SJW hairstyle and man jaw.

I wouldn't know, only played the ME trilogy myself and was satisfied with the old options, but yeesh I am not impressed so far.

This is going to be a fucking disaster. I just know it.

There's been less advertising for this game than Titanfall 2, and that was made and shoved quietly out the door by EA with little care or attention and it fucking rocked. Indeed, it was only because the game succeeded in spite of that ambivalence that TV ads began to appear more prominently on TV alongside the BF1 adverts.

Really, it should've told EA to just leave their subdivisions the fuck alone and let them create, but that will never happen.

Just bare in mind that ME3 fucked up the whole story setting so completely that this new game is set 600 years into the future in another fucking galaxy.

Oh, and they've then been so lazy you have a human ark searching for "new earth" in a galaxy chock full of fucking Council races in both allied and antagonistic roles.

TBH Bioware has turned to trash since the formal EA takeover, and you can see this in their organization that dominated the company from that takeover onwards, they divided the studio up into the Mass Effect Team and the Dragon Age Team and then both proceeded to slowly murder both franchises by shitty writing, boring gameplay and general pants-on-head stupidity that saw a series of games come out that piss away their reputation rather definitively.

They also hired on completely useless hack assholes like Jenniffer Helper for chrissake.

Whole post here.

Seriously though, I'm pretty disillusioned when it comes to this game. The gameplay doesn't seem to improve anything from the previous games and looks like it's gonna be be just another shoot-cover simulator. And the characters look boring.

I might play it, for old time's sake, but I'm not going to pay for it, at least not at release, for sure.

So far, I'm just enjoying the REEEEing about people pointing out that femRyder's base model looks fucking ugly.

See shit like this is why I still have a bit of begrudging respect for Ubisoft. While Ubisoft tends to be more miss than hit these days, and DLC whores like a tiwanese hooker, they at least keep trying new things (Assasin Creed notwithstading). Even if half the time it looks like something that came about from a night of drinking and concussions (Let's put HACKING into Grand Theft Auto!), they at least are trying to create vastly different experiences, and every so often they accidentally shit out a R6 Siege or a Farcry Blood Dragon.

Meanwhile, EA just wallows in it's sameness and mediocrity. I don't see what makes this anything different from ME3 but stiffer animations. I can't actually remember the last EA game where I went "Oh, something new!". I mean fuck they even went away from the "something new" bit when they changed guns from interesting heat balance mechanics in ME1 to every other cover shooter ever in ME2.

So it's not about going to a new galaxy and exploring new alien races and banging their women as we were hoping, but is in fact a tired looking retread of the first three games only with some other existential threat in the place of Mecha Cthulhu.

Fuck this shit, I'm gonna replay Star Control instead.

This time the existential threat is.... uh.

The power's going to run out on their ark.

No, really. That's the main issue, they have to find NU ERF before the lights go out on their stupid big ship.

Jesus christ, we're going for SUPER DELUX now?

Only kind of Super Delux I want is a fucking car wash.

I'll always love the salt the Bioware fandom has towards The Witcher and CD Project Red as a whole. It's so fucking hilarious how pissy they get whenever someone so much as hints at TW being a better RPG series than what Bioware churns out.

What the fuck ever happened to just giving us the full game?
Beats me. I remember when the 99 bux 'super deluxe' editions gave you actually a bunch of physical stuff...

It is quite hilarious. I also love how the usual criticism towards Witcher is "RRREEEE SEXISM", which is quite baseless. It actually works better with portrayal of women, showing them in all shapes and ages and personalities.

Why do all the character models look so fucking.... I dunno, off?

I can't really put my finger on what, but something about these is deeply unsettling to me. They look last-gen, and have this weird sort of plasticky quality that makes them seem unnatural. There's something weird with the proportions of the faces, too. It's not quite so noticeable with the male character, but that Asari's face is too wide for her physique, and has a weirdly shallow chin. The guy doesn't escape this either, with a bad case of lightless mouth syndrome and hair that looks like some sort of slicked-together mass. It makes them look clunky and awkward.

I keep getting this feeling that either nobody on the team knows how to do human faces, didn't give a shit, or was actively trying to fuck up, and I don't know which possibility is more fucking surreal.

Bioware for some reason lately loves greasy faces and character models. They shined like crazy in DA:I and its no different in ME:A apparently.
Also it might be a little unsettling because their facial animations just kind of snap into action. Like there's no transition from one expression to another. Also the facial animations themselves don't look like anything a person would actually do.
