I'm not positive that would be a good thing. Just because the Republicans start using the liberals illegal tactics the liberals aren't going to suddenly go "oh shit I guess that was a law for a reason". Instead they will treat that as justification for their illegal tactics and double down, while simultaneously blaming the Republicans for the illegal tactics. An eye for an eye and the world goes blind and all that.
