Small thing compared to all the other stuff, but I guess it was just the straw that broke the camels back.
It's a small thing but I think that for many people it is what illustrated and drove home how ridiculous and simply wrong all this gender nonsense is.
The thing about the bathrooms is that many people don't think it's that much of an issue because they imagine trans women as looking and behaving pretty similar to a woman, basically women but with some "twist" (i.e. big jaw, lower voice, etc.). Many also assume the vast majority of trans women had "bottom surgery" as well and therefore have no penis, and are shocked when (if) they find out this isn't the case. And after all, these are close stalls and all, it's not like the women are out there naked, so what is the big deal? Which by the way, is the main reason that I always,
always stress that we are not talking about bathrooms only but also about showers and changing/dressing/locker rooms, etc. Often people start to think a bit differently when we are talking about actual nudity. Still many people think as trans women as basically castrated males who looks like women as mentioned above, plus many people don't use public showers and changing rooms, so you know, not their problem, out of sight out of mind. They don't really care about women in prison because it's a distant concept for them and not part of real life for
them, plus they rationalize this as "these women had done bad things so they deserve whatever happens to them". Shelters are also a distant concept that is simply not part of their lives. And basically, that's the case with women's sport as well.
BUT, professional women sport competitions on international level are broadcasted and watched by millions of people. These are not women in prisons or shelters, that are basically hidden from the public view. This is on full view for anyone to see. These professional athletes are humans in top shape. And when you see humans in top shape, competing in the same category side by side, the differences between men and women (males and females, of course) are very pronounced. When you see how big Thomas is next to the actual female swimmers, you can't help but think, "is that actually fair?". Even more so if you take into consideration the fact that when participating in the male category, he finished in double and sometimes triple digit places. But even without it. You have to lie to yourself really hard in order to not admit t
o yourself that yes, males and females are obviously physically different, and no, it isn't fair, and if that's what at least some trans women look like, maybe they shouldn't be in women sport
and women's spaces, prisons, shelters, etc., after all. So I think this made quite a significant amount of people to peak, although that doesn't necessarily mean they have admitted it publicly.
I love that everyone thinks the answer is to homeschool their kids, as though socially isolated kids who grow up without learning how to navigate regular social interactions with peers won't be just as easy to groom when they inevitably get access to the Internet.
I don't mean to bring back a heated argument or anything, I just want to say this: I don't oppose to homeschooling at all, in fact there was a time that I seriously thought about doing so myself when I have kids.
My problem with this solution is that it is often presented as the ultimate solution (just to make it clear, I'm not saying that's what
Andramada says, I mean in general, as part of this discussion), but for many parents this solution is not feasible. If you can do it, all the power to you (seriously), but many,
many parents can't. In some places and in some situations, two income household is basically necessary. Sometimes there is only one parent, and not by choice. There could be other reasons as well. I personally realized at some point that I have to work outside for the sake of my mental health (I'm talking about myself only, not everyone needs this). Only one parent working can also be a bit tricky, it creates dependency of one of the parents (usually the woman) on the other, and it's not always ends well, or can create conflicts, etc....
In short, in our society as it is today, homeschooling is not always an option, or it's not a good option for various of reasons, therefore it's not a comprehensive solution to the problem. As a society, we have to stop this brainwashing in schools (and also bring back actual learning and not this shit we see in schools today). We should also take into account that we can homeschool our kids but there are many kids who are not homeschooled and would keep being indoctrinated with this shit, and since we can't withhold internet forever and at some point the kids will hang out with other kids that might not have the same values as ours (I'm talking about teenagers and older, there is a limit to how much you can control your kid's life), they could and probably would be exposed to this shit eventually too. Plus these other kids would grow up eventually and be part of the working force, legislators, etc., their actions might affect us all too. We all live in this society after all. So we have to fight for the other kids as well.
tl;dr - I think homeschooling could be a good solution for some but it can't be THE solution, we have to systematically eradicate this harmful gender nonsense from schools, this is the society we live in after all, we are all effected by it. Of course this is difficult to do and often we have little to no control over this, but we have to try anyway.
Again, I don't mean to criticize
Andramada and others like her in any way, it's just that I see it said a lot on the internet, some people say "just homeschool" like this solve everything, and this is just a. not always possible, and b. doesn't fix the whole issue.
