If Hollywood types just said "yeah, we're liberal, go fuck yourself," they would get less pushback.

There's one actress in particular I know that was very vocal about her liberal status: Bette Joan Perske. Not a Communist, just anti-Republican.

I know there were other liberal actresses for their time, but Bacall is the only person I know of that vocally expressed her political beliefs as she aged. I wouldn't care if she was a staunch Republican like Jane Russell, her grace showed up from the silver screen to her personal life.

Yes, they really are that stupid. These people know nothing about history that wasn't force-fed down their throats in history class. You would say the words "Ides of March" and they will stare at you blankly. I would bet you my right nut they haven't opened up a single history book outside of class, this is of course implying they even read anything in the first place. At best, they have only read theory, and at worst they are just literal NPCs that repeat what others tell them via articles and fake news. Their historical "knowledge" extends to maybe as far back as WW2 which is why they focus so much on Hitler. The only other history they "know" are things that push their agenda like the Age of Exploration and Colonialism. I would guess a good portion of them think that white people just sailed up and down Africa kidnapping random poor black people, instead of the historical reality they were sold by the local Kings and Chiefs.

This is why they fail to understand that assassinations of heads of state never go well, or really fix anything.

They are indeed so fucking stupid that they believe all of our current woes, and the current political climate is because of Trump. The idea that this is what "The People" actually wanted doesn't even register in their brains, they also are probably too retarded to realize that the populist movement won't just die off because you got rid of Orange Man. Don't get me wrong Trump is definitely the heavy lifter here, but if they wanted to stop his agenda they should've tried shooting him 8 years ago.

Now it's too late. Even if Trump goes JD comes in, and the exodus of moderates to the Trump camp pretty much ensures we will be dealing with American Right Wing Populism for a long long time. Thank God

The Dick Cavett Show was underrated, in my opinion. I miss old-school shows like this where people just talked. Even in that old debate between Thomas Sowell and Harriet Pilpel, both were being respectful, professional, and arguing their points rather than shrieking about bigotry or trying to get zingers in.

If you can answer these three questions then answering yours becomes relatively simple I'd imagine. Also being real. People share/trade their SNAP bennies all the time. If you got a bunch of something you dont like, find someone willing to trade for something you do.

Dick Cavett was a wonderful host, even now. His questions and comments are engaging for both the interviewee AND the audience. You can tell how curious he is, yet remains respectful throughout.

Contrast that with Barbara Walters, who passive aggressively judges her guests for cheap drama and gets surprised when they get pissed off.

My favorite Dick Cavett moment was when he interviewed Lee Marvin and politely inquired how Marvin was wounded in WWII. Lee Marvin replied, without skipping a beat while lighting a cigarette, "yes, I was shot in the ass." I think Cavett was trying to ask what battle.
