Selected so the faculty can virtue signal to other candidates and show how 'woke' and inclusive they are. This guy would be laughed out of the room otherwise. Oh boy do I have a good one for you today Kiwi's. So, I am a few years removed from med school and the match, but I remember how stressful it was. For those unaware, Match Day is when every 4th year medical student in the country finds out where they will continue training in their chosen specialty if they have a job after graduating.

Even though I graduated a long time ago, I still like to browse social media and find out how my alma mater fared that year. One of them matched in a smaller community program in IA.
