Tbh a scientific theory and a theory in the classic term are two different things. In scientific theories they have to be quantifiable (backed by solid math), practical (explains why something is the way it is), and most importantly, observable (if you can't test it, it's only a theory in name). So for example the theory of relativity is a theory where as String Theory is just crack rock thoughts.
