Nintendo Switch (Currently Plagued) - Here we shit post about the new Nintendo console, The Switch

If you are physically in the same room you don't need an Internet connection, but how else did you plan to share games with friends not currently in the same location as you? Carrier pigeon?

You only need an Internet connection for the transfer, and to cancel the transfer or extend the two week limit.
No, family sharing, the current thing that they have had for years, requires a constant internet connection for any game you own to be used on your children's switch. Hop in a car and enjoy some whining for the duration of your trip.

This virtual game card instead does not require that, but requires constant intervention to deal with switching out virtual cards from papa switch to child switch. And yes it requiring an internet connection to do that is also garbage. You're in a car with two kids who want to switch games? Fuck you enjoy some whining.

All of this isn't an issue if you just own an actual copy of Mario Wonder and Mario Kart and Mario Party.

Nintendo literally discusses it on their website
Once a virtual game card is loaded to a system***, not only can you play it without an internet connection, but other user accounts on the system can play, too.
*** An internet connection is required the first time you start a game that you have loaded to your system. An internet connection is also required each time a loaded title is ejected
You're referring to a very niche use case where kids in a car are swapping a game between their consoles multiple times in the same trip, and even then you can turn on hotspot on your phone for a couple minutes to make the transfer. Every use case outside of that very specific scenario has a solution; such as getting the kids to pick a game or two before the trip and stick with it until the end of the trip, or just swapping consoles - as if they're switching that frequently they probably don't care about overwriting saves.

They should call it "Trannyfaggot Life"
They may not but I will.

I'll never understand why Nintendo gets so much flack for doing the bare minimum of diversity occasionally while shit like baldurs gate three gets a pass. I'm sure you'll have the option to just not make your miis do gay shit.
Bare minimum gay propaganda in children's video games doesn't deserve much flack?

PS3 had this figured out 19 years ago, as long as the account is logged in on the device you can play its games, simple as that. This convoluted digital game card nonsense is a step down from even their current setup.

This is not a niche use case especially when you have a brand new game both kids want to play. On a handheld console. You know, the thing parents buy specifically for kids to be quiet on a drive?

They would be screaming and fighting over the game cartridge the entire time anyways, unless you're a decent parent that teaches them to wait their turn. The Nintendo system is fine unless you expect the kids to be swapping the game cartridge every 30 seconds, in which case neither kid gets to enjoy the game.

According to Brave AI:
PS3 Game Sharing
Game sharing on the PlayStation 3 (PS3) involves sharing your PlayStation Network (PSN) account information with friends so they can download and play games you have purchased. To share a game, you first need to deactivate your PS3 from your personal PSN account, then sign in using your friend’s PSN credentials. After downloading the desired game, you can reactivate your own account and still have access to the downloaded game, as long as the friend’s account remains on the system.

However, Sony allows only up to five PS3 machines to be activated for a single PSN account. Game sharing is considered an exploitation of the PS3 game DRM and is against PSN terms of service. Sharing your PSN login details can also increase the risk of identity theft, fraud, and security threats.

It is important to note that Sony has limited game sharing to only two users per account, and attempting to game share with more than two people can result in account bans or suspensions if reported or caught.

Here are some steps to game share on a PS3:

Ask a friend for their PSN login credentials.
Sign out of your PSN account on your PS3.
Sign in using your friend's PSN account.
Deactivate your PS3 from your friend's PSN account.
Create a new user on your PS3 with your friend's PSN credentials.
Download the desired game.
Reactivate your PS3 with your friend's account.
Go to Transaction Management > Download List to find and download the game.
After download, you can switch back to your own PSN account, but ensure your friend's account remains on the system to maintain access to the game.
While game sharing is a way to share content with friends, it is important to consider the ethical implications and the potential risks involved. Developers and Sony rely on sales to fund the creation and maintenance of games and services, so sharing games without purchasing them can negatively impact their business.

That sounds like a lot more hassle then "loaning" individual games the Nintendo way, and likely to get your account banned. Plus who buys all of their kids their own PS3?

How many children do you have?

How many children do you have?
Four, but they are behaved enough to be able to share and agree to take turns. The youngest is happy enough watching and the eldest plays different games. The second oldest is currently in a boarding school and doesn't play any games.

It's really not that hard to get your kids to behave, and with the game cart system it's perfectly easy to have the kids play their own game on the trip, possibly swapping on the way back.

That AI is either wrong or the way it worked changed at some point with an update or something, because I remember having my friend's account on my PS3 and being able to play his games despite him still having his account activated on his own PS3. Maybe AI merely worded it oddly, but it was a seamless experience to my memory.

PS3 Super Slim was pretty cheap btw, so owning multiple would only be unusual at launch when the thing was $600; $269 is cheaper than the Switch, though still more expensive than the Switch Lite (but came with a game and much more memory, unlike Switch Lite).

What you were doing is against Sony's terms and conditions and if you had passed a threshold you would've had your consoles and accounts banned and disabled.

The Nintendo system is clearly defined in a way of what is allowed and what the limits are. It's designed to not let you cross the limits, instead of outright banning and bricking your system if you abuse an unintended function too much, with "too much" being undocumented and subject to change with no notice.

I've never heard of such a thing nor anyone getting banned for it. If they didn't want multiple accounts to be able to be used on multiple devices then they easily could've prevented it from happening like they did with PSP (pre-PS3) and Vita (post-PS3).

We're finally getting a both a new Tomodachi Life and a new Rhythm Heaven. Today is a good day.:)
This thread has always said that every Nintendo Direct is shit, for as long as I have followed it. Perhaps there was some time in the distant past when they were not shit; I don't know. But there's always at least one game that I'm interested in.

That's just because everyone for some reason goes into a Nintendo direct expecting one specific thing and because Nintendo directs rarely have more than 2-3 big announcements, a lot of rabid people are going home disappointed. Every Nintendo direct is shit because they don't announce brand new games for every series all at once every 6 months.

The directs in the Wii U era were hype. One good game, all you need. You could tune into the Japanese ones and catch 4 or 5 3DS games that would never come out here. "Please understand" memes. Good times.

If I ever have kids I'm going to ask an Amish or Hutterite colony to raise them.
That's a lot of kids to have in such a short amount of time.

Nowadays, there's one or two games that I would have been interested in. But it's mostly just the first-party stuff being an little bit less innovative than what it used to be and the ever-growing number of ports being announced

Its hard to be hyped when Metroid just didn't look great and you just don't give a fuck about Miitopia.

At least there's a new RH and Patapon on Switch.

Anyone here has the new Nintendo mobile app? How is it?
I decided to try it because why not. It's cute, for some reason totally devoid of anything pokemon (no pokemon themes or news, which feels really strange even if it's technically owned by gamefreak.)
So far they just post renders from games, occasional short guides or comics, though the first day they used it to announce the zelda movie release date. There's a counter on the top counting down the next Nintendo direct and I'm assuming you'll be able to watch it in the app.

There's also the customizable notifications and calenders, you start by selecting your theme (I chose pikmin and my calender is animated with short pikmin animations of them doing tasks, lounging around or drinking nectar) and which games you're interested in hearing about, then you can customize it further in the settings to have certain kinds of events automatically added to your calendar so you can see upcoming stuff.

All in all it's kinda neat, nothing special so far, but apparently they'll be posting switch 2 development updates there after the direct.

I tried using it after the Zelda movie release date announcement and it was down. Bravo!

Also there’s a home screen widget with shortcuts to certain highlights, including a “guess that Kirby ability” daily quiz. Tapping that shortcut skips the question and takes you straight to the answer.

The last one was pretty good, iirc. And usually there's at least one game I'm interested in too, but I really don't think there was one this time, at least not a new announcement. It was pretty abysmal...

Now imagine not giving a shit about RH nor Patapon either.

I'm thinking the next one is going to be a real heavy hitting Direct, or at least it better be for Nintendo's sake.
