Things that make you angry in video games.

The escort mission in Silent Hill 2 with Maria, but mostly Silent Hill 4 because you have to keep Elaine healthy and it's hard, both feel like baggage. Tomb Raider Games where Lara doesn't jump properly when you want her to, ends up falling and dying with her weak little death cry, and she has extremely big assets.

I will admit I am not very good at video games, and I am most likely going to be thrown off of COD because I just run and gun and don't care if I die or not. But I do still find things annoying about them sometimes.

Games that flash back to previous cutscenes just to remind you what happened there. Looking at you, Metroid: Other M and your whole 'cutscene - action scene - flashback' thing.

Actually, can I just say 90-95% of Other M pissed me off? Hack writing, terrible shoehorned-in symbolism, a moronic control scheme, and enough misogyny to make a social justice warrior cream xirself. Other M was like Metroid Fusion with all its flaws exaggerated tenfold and everything good stripped away.

Whatever angers you in a game is legit. Speaking of what angers a gamer, I pretty much dislike engaging in PvP in Dark Souls due to falling victim to lag. I honestly hate it when I try to dodge a guy only to magically end up getting back-stabbed. Also dislike it when the guy I fight has better equipment compared to my character when at a low soul level. (I remember engaging a guy who had one of the robed sets *could of been sealer because there is a way to get to the set if you pick the right items to get to it* and one of the katanta's in the Undead Burg. I was just a low level cleric when that happened. Needless to say, I ended up dying to someone who had better equipment that wasn't starter.) Also dislike getting disconnected when fighting in PvP. It makes me think that the guy I fight probably thought I did it on purpose, never mind the fact that the router my PS3 is linked too is in another room, far from where I'm playing, not to mention, it kills off the potential fun.

  • there's a mob that stun locks your character.
  • there's a tutorial that you have to go through.
  • there's a heavy use of scripted events.
  • there's an attack that instantly kills you.

Don't know if I posted this but one thing I hate in a game is when developers place enemies in an area that guarantees your death. I'm talking about Anor Londo, on the side of the chapel, two silver knights with their great bows. I hate that part of the game as much as I hate the Four Kings.

Button mashing. In Tarzan Untamed, that's literally how you beat the bosses. My poor brother would be red in the face and panting trying to do this bullshit.

Having to wait on a long-ass update when you first turn on a new game/console. Bonus points if it plays an annoying looping sound in the background the whole time.

The fact that I know certain video game movies will never get out of development hell. I guarantee we will never see a Metal Gear Solid or Warcraft in the theaters.

I'm happy that most of them never get anywhere. Has there ever been a genuinely good video game movie?

I'd say Wreck it Ralph but then again this is on a series, not a bunch of unrelated games. Trying to think on that, I don't there has been any as far as I recall.

Seriously, my bad aim in shooters is infuriating. I tried playing Serious Sam Revolutions' multiplayer a few minutes ago. I literally couldn't hit anyone. I may have got one or two hits, but everyone was moving too damn fast for me to get a clean shot. Even when I finally got a steady shot on one guy, he killed me.

Button mashing.
I love Metal Gear, but I damn near broke my dualshock trying to pass the torture sequence in Peace Walker.

I get Kojima's whole "post-modern make the player feel like the character" schtick, but button mashing doesn't make me feel empathy with a torture victim. It makes me feel pissed that the game is wasting my time on something stupid.
