Diseased #Comicsgate - The Culture Wars Hit The Funny Books!

Zack is the real nerd and the real man guys. Really!

Everyone said it would suck, that's it. No one ever said it would bomb.
Yeah, let us pretend it was an one time thing. Let us pretend that no other celebrity ever did such thing.

What bullshit! Stars tanking their work by being idiots happens all the time. Calling them out for costing their coworkers money is nothing new or uncalled for.

I’ve said it in a few threads already, but everything I’ve heard about this film is the epitome of “Jangling Keys: the Movie” that will probably still make a bunch of money because dumb kids.

Like a majority of the film is literally just “look, a thing from Minecraft!”
RLM just released their Half In The Bag on Minecraft.

[They walked out and sitting through bad movies is their whole schtick]

Richard has driven himself so insane with his contrarianism and autistic 1 sided war against the BPC that he's now convinced himself that bad movies legitimately don't exist.
I think his thought process goes like this:
  1. I want to be famous again.
  2. I was famous last time for going after the cool kids like those Milkshake Girls.
  3. So... this time I will go after the Birthday Party Clowns.
  4. People will love me again!
Only, his limited intellect and lack of self-awareness made him overlook that:
  1. He was big the last time because his enemies made such a big fuss about him that the Streisand effect took place.
  2. His past enemies come off as bullies and villains, so he appeared sympathetic and people rallied around him.
  3. His current "enemies" barely mention him because they are too busy being popular and raking in the shekels.
  4. Richard limits his screaming and ranting in a Community tab, something that very few people bother to check.
  5. The more he tries to get noticed by calling the BPCs cunts and other profanities, the more unhinged he comes off. It doesn't help that his "side" is the one currently doing the same tactics on Eric July that Waid and others did on him the last time. It's very hard to support someone that is barely better than the unhinged old man parked at the street corner screaming obscenities to passers-by.

Seems like the closest he gets to calling movies bad these days is when he pulls "ackshully the old stuff wasn't as great as you remember" out of his ass when something like Indiana Jones takes a box office shit.

The problem with that is, though, is that it is as good as I remember. I can just pop in my DVD of Temple of Doom and enjoy a great movie. In fact, the only problem with it is I've seen it so many times that it isn't a new experience anymore (which is how channels like Movie Munchies rake in the shekels by doing first time watches of movies most of us have already seen).

One other thing is he actually was able, through some miracle given his horrible taste, to distinguish good comics from bad comics. Though given his awful taste in movies and TV, I'm wondering if he just managed to fool me. How can someone with such horrible taste in movies distinguish good comics? My guess is he just happened to be into comics when some top level comics creators at the top of their game were making them.

Actually, now that I think about it, cracks started to appear in his comics takes too. Like when he offered to rewrite Spawn for McFarlane and remove all the stuff about Hell and Spawn's tragic origin from it. I think he got ahead because of good casting, he was "a combat vet who loved good comics and wanted to make good comics." The more we find out about his real personality, the more that turns out to be a phony marketing campaign.

Critical Drinker got his project successfully funded with 25 days to go.

For comparison, below is how well his previous project did. Damn can't believe he only has an entire month to get roughly another 100k, he's a mere two-thirds of the way there. I'm sure Meyer would find a reason to call this a failure even though he looks to be on track to beating his previous campaign with even less backers unless he stalls hard towards the end. I don't expect this to hit all of the stretch goals but I'm finding it hard to call this a failure financially so far

@FROG is just jealous that the best he can do is crowdfund a crash happy hillbilly to advertise for him

He was into comics during the 80s and 90s iirc. During that time, comics had to be edgy and "realistic". You know, "mature" in the sense they have gore, swears and tits but not mature in the sense of teaching something only someone with a fully developed brain can understand. You ARE correct in the sense that a lot of good stuff came out during the Dark Age but a lot of that stuff was shitty too. For the longest time, he praised Liefeld's 90s stuff to the bewilderment of his audience. It was not until later that he read the Image stuff Liefeld made that he realised that most people think of Youngblood and the Brigade as Liefeld's defining work and finally understood the mockery.

I remember him saying that the military ruins creativity in art. I believe that his old self is something between the kid that likes comics and the marine that had much of his creativity extracted. He wanted Spawn to be Sci-fi because he can understand and wrap his head around unknown science. He cannot do that with fantasy and magic. The magic has been lost. As for the tragic backstory, it is the same thing. He cannot wrap his head around it anymore due to his lack of creativity. I do not doubt he loves comics and understands them a good deal better than he does TV and Cinema. He does understand what makes a comic bad but he is clueless on the things that are on screen.

"I'm going to continue to publish SPLATTO & NARZACK books while reviewing mainstream comics." - Ya Boi Zack

I wonder if this is actually true though. I wouldn't bet against him publishing something, like a bunch of pasted together AI art to keep the grift going a little longer. I think the days of anything ambitious are behind him, though.

I'm sure Meyer would find a reason to call this a failure

even less backers
This is where Richard will hyper focus on. Which is fair in his defense. I think he gets an L for being so retarded to think Drinker couldn't fund his project, but he would get a W for pointing out less people backed him.

But here's where he doesn't get to stand on any point : His projects have taken half a month or a full month to squeak by funding, and he makes less than half most of these projects make in terms of backers.

Edit to avoid double posting: Richard posted that community comment about Narzack 3 hours ago and has accumulated a whopping 3 comments. I cannot wait to see how that project goes.
