Nintendo Switch 2 - For the Soytendo consoomers to speculate about the successor to the Switch, recently announced for 2025.

Modding them's a pain in the ass; nobody bothers. It might be worth it if we do get a cart-based S1 exploit dropping with the S2 or if there's a single hardcopy game you're particularly interested in. If the heavily-used gen1 switch is one of the exploitable ones it's probably worth it for a decent price if you've got any interest in the library, although filling a card with random games isn't the simple pick-from-a-menu-and-wait it used to be a year or two ago due to Nintendo's crackdowns.

If you're thinking of cfw for emulation on it just spend the 50 on one of the cheap Chinese emu handhelds instead, most of them can do up to Dreamcast fairly well and also run Moonlight, and unlike the switch they won't hose your sdcard if an emulator crashes while scanning roms.

I have one of the exploitable Switches but it looks like a pain in the ass to do. The Lite seems like a lost cause for that.

gen 1 switches are as easy as putting atmosphere on your sd card, bridging the pins in the right rail, plugging into your PC or any device that can do payload injection, then turning it on with volume up held and injecting hekate to boot fusee.bin, its incredibly simple.

Someone in the comments is saying it's because of the magnets. Can anyone confirm if magnets are a factor?
Doubt it. Tried with a Dreamcast controller and a phone holder with like 15+ rare earth magnets next to the stick and it still worked fine.

Plus it's still a physical lockup on the joycons, so the magnets do not need to be strong either.

The game cases for the Switch 2 are ugly as shit, I hate the way the logo is centered while barely taking any space and how the header eats so much space. Should've just done it like how Sony does it and changed the colors of it every generation.

I legitimately think even fucking Pink Gold Peach was a better concept and playable character than 20 different Mario Enemy Glup Shitto track obstacles made into playable characters. Even including every single dumbass Koopaling was a better idea. Who on the planet looks at this roster and thinks "boy oh boy I can't wait to play as the forgettable cow roadblock enemy from Moo Moo Meadows"?

>Release a Diddy Kong Racing knockoff that doesn't even have Diddy in
>Release a new Donkey Kong game and replace Diddy with a soul-less blob

This is Rare erasure, fuck you Nintendo. I know they're under Microsoft now, but it wouldn't kill them to put a little respect on the people that brought them the massively successful Donkey Kong Country games and was response for a good chunk of their successful 3rd party library on the N64. Even if not every Rare game was a massive hit, they all had soul and killer music.

This is still less “Rare erasure” than Jungle Beat on the Gamecube.

That game had literally ZERO characters from Rare. At least DK Bananza is confirmed to have Cranky Kong and Rambi.

Yes, the switch 2 is going to sell less than 750k lifetime when the previous lowest-selling nintendo handheld sold 75 million. Thank you for your meaningful and not at all reddit-tinged contribution to the thread.
Indeed it could because those 75 million, as well as most Nintendo sales usually came from parents for kids, who will question why they should pay for 300 dollars more for something that already exists for 299 that doesn't fix ANYTHING the old version had wrong with it, games cost infinitely more for no reason and literally the only thing going for it is "it runs a little better".

Oh and it has a camera. That you have to pay for.
And a tutorial game. That you ALSO have to pay for.
And can't forget voice chat. Which you also. Have. To pay for

Truly the stuff sales are made of

By the end of this year, I’m going to laugh so fucking hard at everyone who said the Switch 2 would be a “repeat of the Wii U”.
Anyone saying the Switch 2 will fail is vaping pure hopium.
Even if the Nintendrones collectively said "fuck Nintendo" and didn't buy it, the faggot scalpers would still buy the entire stock hoping to make a 3x turnaround.

What I do think will happen is Nintendo will move less games, had they not raised it to $80, and it will lead to lower than expected game sales. Even Sony has said that the price raise to $70 was one of the things that fucked them over this gen. But the investor class wants it, so that's what happened and what will continue to happen, even as it further cripples the entire industry.

All I'm saying is that the non tech savvy mom won't mind paying 220+50 euros for a Lite when her kid asks to play some bing bing wahoo.
Make that 450+90 and there will be a problem.
THATS what I'm saying.

The Wii u sold poorly because moms and dads looked at it and said "we already have a Wii, why do we need this" and it wasn't even ludicrously priced

Now they see something that's literally switch the sequel, Wii u at least had a kinda unique name,

Switch 2, and you have parents going both "we have switch 1, why do we need 2?" And they will say "THIS THING COSTS 90 DOLLARS PER GAME,HELL NO TIMMY

That's a disaster in the making. And it ain't even out

As a kid during the SNES and N64 era, the only time we got a game was at Christmas and it was a game that my dad would also want to play. Otherwise, we would go to blockbuster to rent a game for the weekend. Even that was maybe an every few months occurrence.
Same thing here but my dad didn't play them. Getting a game back then was a Christmas or Birthday thing. I only had a few SNES and Genesis games when I was a kid. I got a PS1 as a Christmas present in late 1998. I managed to get more PS1 games than I did SNES and Genesis games. The first PS1 game I got was FF7. It sucks being a kid of a lower middle class family.

Now as an adult I got a shit ton of games. I got so many games I don't have time to play them all.

Id like to add in, there's a physical button on your controller that is a constant reminder to pay for their online service
It's a whole ass button you can't use without paying, it's just taking up space on your controller that you fucking paid like 80 bucks for.
to fully use your controller you have to pay 50 bucks a year, on top of already paying for it.

Nintendo finally found a way to monetize a fucking button you already paid for

"Nintendo of America's president Doug Bowser (no relation to Mario's nemesis) was slightly more forthcoming that day."

"We recognize there are some people that may not be able to afford [the Switch 2's] price point. That's why we wanted to make the other Switch platforms available, so [people] still have an opportunity to come into our gaming universe, be a part of these characters in these worlds, and see value, if you will, in whatever rung of the platform they come in."

Kek. I hope now this is Nintendo's Xbox One tier disaster.

Here we have it folks, Nintendos own XBOne moment. If you cant afford buying the Switch2, buy our Switch1.

Your workforce costs more for shoddy work and your workforce is more retarded than asians. Be honest, would you prefer Chinese or Vietnemese hands constructing a Switch 2 or some American doing it for at least quadruple the Labor price while having lenient workforce compliance and accepting that price increase for Labor and shoddy work when I see most people in this thread and the Switch 1 thread complaining about price? Australian and UK Pre-Orders are selling out, let's see if Nintentards in the US will buy regardless of Tariffs, honestly I look forward to seeing the results.

Americans don't really think of your medieval hovel (or soon to be medieval hovel) at all.
