Wow. Rage is so powerful that it inspired other kids who felt the same to emulate Charlie in an attempt to feel something other than misery and confusion, and King got cold feet that his work was having a tangible impact on the world around him instead of merely frightening a few people with the concept of the supernatural. He allows this novel to go out of print and 30 years later publishes an essay called Guns which is fucking retarded.
First he complains about the media cycle coverage of shootings, which I agree is retarded. Giving these people celebrity is just what they want and shouldn't be encouraged. Note that this is different from writing a fictional novel about a shooting, because it's fucking fictional. Then he subtly implies that Glock 10s should be restricted to being used by Greenland Rangers for dealing with polar bears, as if you can't kill people with any kind of gun, and of course the ever present kvetching about the AR-15. Then he blames the NRA for giving good ratings to politicians who won't do anything to fund "mental health services". As if mental illness is merely a disease that can be cured like any other, by throwing money at research until you figure out how antibiotics work against physical disease.
No mention of the root causes at all. No mention of infinity immigrants destroying the concept of supply and demand, driving up the price of housing, and refusing to learn english or respect the culture and traditions of their host country. No mention of cultural marxists who hate America and encourage the youth to adopt their radical anti capitalist notions. No mention of the destruction of local American markets due to outsourcing that began in King's generation. No mention about how any of this could be leading to the youth feeling disaffected and depressed. They can't afford to get married and buy a house, but King has the gall to blame it all on the fucking NRA, as if they exist for any reason other than the fact that people like King exist.
People who hate guns and want to destroy the second amendment because they think that will change things. Everyone with a brain just has to look at Britain to know where that road leads. Take away guns and people will use knives. Take away knives and they will break bottles and use chunks of pipe and sharpen spoons. Add no cohesive national identity to that, and it's no wonder that Jack and Mohammed hate each other. It's a story as old as time and these people think they can just overcome human tribal nature because we figured out how to split the atom and generate electricity. If only we just spent more money on mental health professionals like Doctor Fauci...
I am reminded of a passage from a book I recently read. It goes something along the lines of:
"I don't like you very much, Tom, as you have probably realized, but up to now you haven't had to give much of a rip how I felt. But I'm out of your filing cabinet now, Tom. Have you got it? I'm not just a record you can lock up at three in the afternoon. Have you got it?" My voice was rising into a scream. "HAVE YOU GOT THAT, TOM? HAVE YOU INTERNALIZED THAT PARTICULAR FACT OF LIFE?" "Yes, Charlie," he said in a deadly voice. "I have it." "No you don't, Tom. But you will. Before the day's over, we are going to understand all about the difference between people and pieces of paper in a file."
Yes yes, very thought provoking. If only we treated people more like people, and less like economic units in a machine calculation that we can manipulate into the desired outcome. Wow, that sure sounds like just pouring more money on the problem of "mental health" and ignoring what people are telling you they're upset about. It also reminds me of Sam Hyde's "Dear Elon" video. Sam Hyde has the same position as Stephen King did in 1977. Imagine that.
"Any bills to change existing gun laws, including those that make it possible for almost anyone in America to purchase a high-capacity assault weapon, quietly disappear into the legislative swamp."
I fail to see how a simple shotgun or 6 round revolver qualify as assault weapons or high capacity. Those were the weapons that were used in the shootings that lead King to order Rage out of print. He even mentions them later in the essay.
He then says he never apologized for writing Rage, and regrets pulling the novel. This is complete bullshit speaking out both sides of your mouth. When you're sorry you know you've done something wrong and have to make amends. If you weren't sorry, you wouldn't pull the book. He (correctly) says that it contains a kernel of truth at the center which people don't like discussing. I don't know how you can hold this opinion and also believe that the NRA are the bad guys, instead of people like Klaus Schwab and George Soros. I guess that's what growing up hearing about Vietnam will do to you, if it doesn't make you jingoistic.
"Charlie had to go. He was dangerous. And in more ways than one."
"If I could have one wish granted, I'd wish for an end to world hunger; the small shit could wait in line."
These are literally written back to back. I lack the required patience to articulate exactly why it is people like King who Charlie is dangerous to. People who are comfortable in their position in life (this was written in 2013) and don't have to look down the barrels anymore.
"If, however, the god or genie who bestowed the magic wand told me my one wish had to do with American politics, I think I'd wave it and make the following proclamation: "Every liberal in the country must watch Fox News for one year, and every conservative in the country must watch MSNBC for one year."
He goes on to bemoan the lack of dialogue between the left and right. Such examples as fiscal policy which I will grant because economics are byzantine, but immigration I will not in light of the left completely dropping everything having to do with American sovereignty. Right around the time that leftists started saying "no human is illegal", we stopped being able to have a dialogue about immigration. Now call me crazy and bad faith but I think the TDS King would support these arguments about illegal humans, and how we have to feel bad for poor brown people and let them live in our country until they outnumber us. This makes his crying about the lack of dialogue between factions fall flat.

If I had one wish, I would wish for writers to stop using social media. In fact I would wish for the absolute destruction of social media, and death for anyone who ever wasted time on it.
"The great majority of guns are being bought, sold, and carried illegally."
This must be one of those "wrong facts" he was talking about when he imagined a strawman conservative reading his essay and clenching his fists while he thought about getting back to listening to Rush Limbaugh. Citation most definitely needed, but obviously not provided. Also he just can't help making fun of conservatives at every possible opportunity. This is the kind of thing that makes people think you are less of an enlightened centrist, and more of a radical libtard. The following decade of King's Twitter addiction has demonstrated that quite nicely.
"Strict mandatory prison sentences on those who use or carry them concealed without a license to do so."
I agree 100%. Even for people of socioeconomic factors we should feel sorry for. I also think they should be summarily executed if they use said illegal guns to kill someone else. Probably King disagrees with this. Probably it's because he's an old man now, and has gone soft. He doesn't have to live cheek by jowl with pavement monkeys who really would kill you as soon as look at you. He probably thinks about edge cases and false convictions when he thinks about capital punishment. If he really mourned the deaths of all these children as he claims, then he would harden his heart about what needs to be done.
Calls another conservative paranoid, just par for the course...
Talks about America's culture of violence and how he doesn't believe it, because in 2012 most of the popular media had nothing to do with violence, blah blah blah... Though I do wonder whether or not he is aware that certain people of socioeconomic factors are responsible for the vast majority of actual violent crimes, not media about violence. They usually use guns and hold them sideways. Somebody hook my boy up with the FBI statistics.
Again makes a snide remark about conservatives who go to the movies but once a year. Gee I wonder if the faggotication of the industry had anything to do with that. I wonder if that's conducive to deradicalizing these people and getting them to see your point and agree that it has some merit. Dumbfuck boomer.

He really doesn't see it. Slop like 50 Shades of Grey, which is one of the worst books I have ever read, is the one of the best selling book series of all time. It teaches no morals, has no substance, excuses aberrant sexual behavior tantamount to abuse, and overall is just degenerate. King doesn't see how this could be contributing to the overall malaise that afflicts the country. He is hyper fixated on guns because to acknowledge this is to question his liberal principles.
Then he strawmans arguments about gun owners being more likely to get killed than pull out their gun and defend themselves. I assume he would ignore all the opposite strawman arguments because he is a dumbfuck boomer.
Calls gun owners paranoid about federal government. I don't need to explain how ridiculous this is in the hindsight of 2025. Guns are already regulated. What more does someone like King want?
"accidental shooting deaths, they argue, are just part of the price we pay for freedom"
Correct. This is uniquely American thinking and you are a faggot if you believe otherwise. Just like how "stabbing crime is part and parcel of living in the big city" is a uniquely european/globalist retard way of thinking, as the mayor of london Sadiq Khan was fond of saying. Because he loves niggers and arabs and ignores all the problems associated with them.

American gun laws are the same as Nazi Germany gun laws. I have no comment.

Nobody wants to take away your guns, even though you support Nazi Germany gun laws. I have no comment other than to point to the following ten years after this essay was written, and all the people like King who support punching a Nazi for existing. I bet he would punch Trump because he's a Nazi.

King is not educated on guns. He frequently makes mistakes when writing about them. He writes about checking the safety on a revolver, calls magazines clips, and overall has no concept of how they function. Here he is conflating semi automatics and automatics. He seriously thinks semi automatics are capable of rapid fire, perhaps in a mode past single shot, labeled "AUTO". No, King. That is what the "semi" means. You have to pull the trigger for each shot, just like with a low capacity revolver. You can fire a revolver just as rapidly as a semi automatic rifle. Also communists aren't people t. polish mercenary.

Actually yes, it is.

I suppose this is why Britain outlaws kitchen knives and ninja swords, because this woman's argument holds no weight at all and King completely correct and totally not a radical leftist because he owns guns too and grew up in a red state. Just trust him bro and realize the nobody wants to control you after years of enforced masking and vaccines.

Nobody wants to take your guns. They just want to take your magazines that hold more than ten rounds. Or eight. Or six. Or four.
Jesus Christ this is literally a parody of the jew meme where he just goes lower and lower.

Nobody wants to take your guns. They just want to take your guns. Wait, I must have read that wrong...
No, they really do just want to take your guns. Your "assault weapons" capable of "rapid fire" with extended "clips".
It would be funny if it wasn't so sad.
Somebody messaged me about The Dark Tower when I was posting about it, and speculated that King fucked up the ending because he didn't like that people liked Roland, his tough as nails gunslinger character who was a real man and used a real gun. I think they were completely right, because the worst Dark Tower books were written right around the time of the Bush administration, and basically everything I've seen of King has supported this theory.
Writes about an Ausfailian case involving an AR-15, then references an Ausfailian law that banned automatics. The AR-15 is not an automatic. Homicides by firearm have declined almost 60 percent in Ausfailia as a result, but I would imagine rates of gay nigger cattle faggotry have also increased commensurately. But King being a liberal doesn't care about that. Ausfailians couldn't defend themselves against illegal immigrants or pavement apes or tyrannical government even if they wanted to - even if they weren't buck broken. I wonder if the dude who killed a bunch of people with an AR-15 that led to this was a government agent.

I wasn't banned from payment processors or commerce websites or blacklisted or fired because the law demanded it, I was protected under the first amendment. But the law doesn't mean shit when giant corporations with no oversight are empowered to do whatever they want. King must support banking and internet neutrality not because it will enable nazis and bigots to have a platform, but because it's the sensible thing. (also he must support leaving kids alone and not forcing homosexual tranny ideology on them)
Until that happens, people will continue to feel alienated and insane, which will impact their mental health, which will lead to shooting sprees.
He literally concludes this by saying America must pass Australian gun laws. That's really it.
