It looks to me like all the people jumping ship and claiming he was never honest about the lawsuit just weren’t paying attention. It’s true that Karl leaned hard on the DK cheat angle of the situation, but I’m pretty sure when it first kicked off he mentioned the fact that it was essentially a defamation case over Billy’s culpability for Apollo Legend’s suicide. I think this was a case of Billy haters loving to hate and getting egg on their face because their champion lost.

Wrong, Karl hid the information in videos related to speedrunning, always claimed Billy was lying about the lawsuits, and not once clearly stated what his was being sued over. Even the GoFundMe is vague and does not spell it out, despite it being started at the time Karl new what the supposed 3rd lawsuit was about at the time.

He also never updated the GoFundMe when some defamatory imputations were dropped from the lawsuit and it stopped being about cheating alltogether.

The hid the retraction, he never apologized and he mislead his viewers.

I’m open to consneeding on being wrong, but I really thought this was public knowledge. Maybe I watched some lawtuber go over the case separately years ago and learned this. I checked back to the old Karl video about it and didn’t find a direct mention.

Obviously I can only speak for myself and my experience with this shitshow, but it appears that many others share a similar experience and never knew that the lawsuit was not about cheating it all.

I remember seeing the video in which Karl made the claim that Billy pushed Apollo into suicide with his lawsuit, I never saw a retraction , neatly hidden as it was in a speedrun video I did not care about, and Karl never showed the Concern Notice for the 3rd lawsuit (Apollo legend claims) in a video I think, he did show the other two that involved cheating allegations and used them as content to mock Billy.

So even if I had at some point in time known that there was a kerfuffle about the claim made by Karl, I did not know that Billy was suing over it until way way later and I did not know Billy had dropped the supposedly defamatory cheating allegations as imputations from the lawsuit.

I still do not know the exact timeline when the lawsuit was modified because the court records are not publicly available for download and the form to request them feels like internet in 1999 and I can't be bothered to deal with it.

Watching internet reactions for gaging what’s real isn’t something that’s always reliable (the stock market this week can tell you that). I don’t have the time to dig back into the past myself, so I’ll take people’s word for it here that this was not known. Maybe it’s a Mandela Effect thing for me where I swear I knew about this aspect of the case prior to this week but it was actually just the years of Billy Mitchell drama amalgamating in my mind.

What’s very fun about the reaction to the lawsuit, though, is how people start whipping out their dirt on Karl all of a sudden. Were people going to tuck it away if he won? Pretty gay behavior to me.

I'm taking a quick look trough the thread and I don't see mention of the feud that non practicing chink lawyer :really: LUS (Channel) had with Jobst.
I don't know too much about LUS but on his channel you can see that he was milking the Jobst lolsuit for years, at one point this happened:

Apparently that "settlement" offer was 3k ($$$AUD?) for Mitchell to drop the case.

The only person Karl feels sorry for is himself.
I was arguing for Billy to be merciful and use this as a chance to polish up his image by offering Karl good terms to get out of this.
But Karl is above accepting responsibility.

I know how new harvests go where everyone gets excited that this is totally going to be the end of someone's career and we're going to see the rise of a new alpha cow on the scale of Chris, but Karl really is going to be ''fine''.

He's going to release a two hour long video obsessively going over every detail of the trial, gaslighting along the way with extra histrionics that would make a BPD chick blush (my family! my skin cancer! my depression!), and because Billy is an unlikable conman who lies as much as Karl does, Karl will be able to sway enough people back over to his side into thinking it was just a misunderstanding.

A good amount of people won't trust him anymore but the only ones who are really getting this level of enjoyment out of seeing his entire life of lies being exposed are us. We shouldn't be acting like idiotic redditors thinking we make up the majority internet opinion.

Now why on Earth would Billy agree to this when he was set to get over 100X more for what's probably the most winnable lawsuit he has (and will likely ever be involved) with?

Laughable attempt to avoid the consequences of his own retarded actions.

It is not the job of the audience to go actively looking in foreign media for an explanation of a lawsuit that the streamer who is begging them for money forgot to be clear about.

Just like it isn't the job of the audience that has been mislead about Billy to go looking for the hidden retraction.

Karl positioned himself as a authority on Billy Mitchell and his lawsuits, he forgot to be clear and transparent about the one lawsuit that mattered, his own.
