The left only really cares about this because they project their own ideas of themselves onto the US as a nation, and because their chattering class is mostly composed of physically weak men and females, they're petrified of violating the consensus. True except I'd argue it's not even about showing submission, they don't even really understand the concept of "submission" because they don't grasp concept of one person being forcefully in charge, whether it's them or not. That is alien to them. It's all about consensus, fitting in with the group, not having anyone think badly of you. Their memes all look like this:



The idea conveyed is not that a leader will think Trump is stupid and then do something harmful to take advantage of that. Being thought of as stupid by the rest of the group is the terminal fear.

I was sperging about it a bit earlier, the ultimate terror for people with this mindset isn't being subject to violence or dominance (they have no experience of this), it's being expelled from a group. I'm starting to question the purpose of the RealID because I was given the distinct impression that it was proof of citizenship within the US when I got it, the way regular State driver's licenses USED to be. Since they gave regular State driver's licenses to illegals, the RealID was SUPPOSED to correct this deficiency. But now, come to find out, it's not acceptable proof of US citizenship, even though I had to provide proof of citizenship in order to get it. And somehow, the illegals have RealID too. The thing about rare earth metals is that they're legitimately hard to mine for and separate and you need years of extensive investment into very specific type of infrastructure before you so much as break even. The US and Canada have probably far more than is currently known but the cost of operation isn't something any private company can shoulder unless it had Nasa tier support.

My uncle is an economic geologist whose career is based on finding mineral deposits. According to him, he tried to approach multiple states about possible locations of rare earth deposits worth investigating, and was told by heads of multiple state agencies "All mineral deposits that can be discovered, have been discovered. There is no point in looking, so you can't look." They weren't even citing counter-arguments about the geology, they were speaking ex cathedra based on politics. So it's not always even an economic question, it's that for decades government policy has been to prevent the development of local mining entirely.

Well the one positive cope to this is that the minerals arn't going anywhere. We arn't like Africa that let other nations come in and strip mine and completely rape our lands bare.
When the need grows enough from getting cut off from other sources then there will be real pressure put on the feds to open up mining leases.
