I used to have a different position on this, but everyone's taught me that defamation is a little more serious than cheating in a game. Karl did get money off of records like Dam Agent 52, which he still gets to keep, but all of his times should be wiped, and he should have to start getting them back once he's out of prison. Oh, and if Australian prisons let you have video games, he can still play, but none of his WRs should count while in prison.
One of Karl's videos is about a cheater named Henning Blom. A few of Henning's times were cheated, such as a Frigate Agent 22 where JB puts away a different gun than the one he finished the level with, making it more obvious, and after repeat offenses, all of Henning's times were taken off including non-cheated ones. Meanwhile there's another runner named Gragz who has gone to prison before and nothing happened to his times. Not that I expect sensible priorities from people who play one level for longer sessions than most speedrunners put into 100% categories.
This would be a prime time for Jirard to come out of nowhere with a folding chair similar defamation lawsuit. Now that this shit happened, I'm starting to believe what he said about suing Karl and Mutahar, and the fact that it may actually hold water in court with a precedent of this being something that Karl has done before.

For example, that there were no signatures on some documents, which were in fact digitally signed; that Jirard had committed embezzlement, which is unlikely, even if he did commit other financial crimes of any kind; and that Jirard family had been "stealing a lot of money".

The amount of vitriol you see from the accusers is insane also. Even if you grant them everything (which is total B.S.) it still amounts to "Billy Mitchell used an emulator to legitimately beat a game he can beat without an emulator anyways therefore he is an evil cheater." But you see them in comments sections continuously saying "You're a cheater. Cheater." like the guy murdered someone. Really messed up. The apartment isn't much better than Rutzou's. It's another 1-floor apartment. Why so many monitors? How much was the whole house? Speedrunners are poor which is what I guess happens when the most important thing in your life is being the best at old Nintendo games. Glad I'm out of speedrunning. It seems like something only old retired people should be bothering with, not young and spry ones who should be working on themselves.
