Ersatz really just wants that attention, huh?
I don't know man. Going through everything in this thread makes me think he's legitimately some obsessed stalker freak. Who else would dedicate so much of their time to making stuff up and slandering someone? Really strikes me as profoundly disturbed, Jeffery Dahmer type stuff. I'm glad its not the 1970s anymore, personalities like him used to become necrophiliacs.

Hmmm, so there was a period where Karl disabled comments on the video with his statements about Billy causing Apollo to take his life.

Golly gee, I wonder why he did that? I’m sure it’s not because he knew that Billy was compiling comments about Apollo, did he?

The consequences for cheating in speedrunning have gotten more severe over the years. They were actually more strict in Japan during the early days of Mario 64 when several runners were caught splicing because Japan is more collectivist and about "Japan" having the WR than an individual, and they recognize that people who can't compete in a game honestly are better off getting a real job instead.

Outside of Japan, they were pretty lax in the 2000s (even players like Goose walked it back after taking down cheated PBs) but have caught up to be nearly just as strict. A Wave Race player had all of his times taken down in all games and banned for 2 years in Wave Race before he can start earning them back. That Henning guy got his records taken down and permabanned from The-Elite. Mergy, a cheater in Yu-Gi-Oh who modded the RNG, was also banned for years and had to start over. CaveiraGames was caught blatantly cheating in a run that doesn't pass the smell test and made a moderator respond with "I laughed" but EZScape made it more about his general bad behavior and creep tendencies. There was even an Eliter named Ohrami who didn't cheat but got banned anyway, including at-the-time WRs, because he disagreed on something with Goose, a powerful member.

Karl should be lucky his times are still up. Sure the money loss must be rough (not sure how much money it is for him, being a youtube clickbaiter is easy money) but as far as the lack of penalties on The-Elite, he's getting a slap on the wrist (if even that) due to seniority (he's one of the site's founders) and being one of the more famous players. This kind of favorites-playing by immature adults who should have grown out of it doesn't happen in professional sports where far wealthier and more iconic people have gotten suspensions or worse for infractions. Karl's using his position to try to get people on his side. Justice is blind and not perfect but I trust the courts are right on this one, Karl Jobst did a bad and he should cut his losses instead of getting into more trouble.

Is it this weekend yet?
Is it tomorrow yet?
Is his internet back up?
Did his lawyer say it was okay?

Is it tomorrow yet?

He's just delaying the inevitable. He will not apologize or admit the truth, so therefore he's going to get shit on hard for it, so why is he waiting? Just get it over with.

He can go on living that Completionist life where you just upload videos pretending it never happened, and all the comments are shitting him, with a small handful of dents being the reply-guy that tells everyone they're wrong.

Video coming tomorrow™️
Imagine going to law school, spending years of your life expecting to be helping people understand a complex legal process or to get justice and all that shit and instead you end up being paid to watch youtube videos to make sure a retard doesn't 'accidentally' slander someone again. My guys got the lawyer equivalent of people who study to be a doctor and get stuck as a GP.

Ladies and gentlemen... we got him.
For purveyors of the lawsuit thread, this was noted back in 2021 when he submitted an affidavit.

It's KiwiFarm's @ersatz_cats! The real one is gonna be pissed when he finds out.

I believe he is the author of this affidavit. He's pretty much the guy when it comes to this stuff. He has written tomes on Billy Mitchell cheating.

I'm someone who looked up to Karl. He was my speedrunning hero and seemed like a mature guy who worked out a lot. He only ever cheated when he was young and submitted times/scores to a magazine that allowed it for other players, and admitted to it even without being rewarded. He seemed like a family man and someone who was benevolent and curtious to other people even when they were ruining and destroying a hobby he loved. Then came this month, when he made the biggest blunder I'd seen out of any speedrunner- losing a court case and reacting negatively and petulantly to it instead of cutting his losses.

Simply paying the defendant and being done with it would have gotten many people on his side and probably gotten him lots of donations. He and his supporters wouldn't have liked it, but it would have shown his ability to be a man and take the loss, resolving to come up with better solutions and pick battles more soundly. Meanwhile, competitors boycotting leaderboards and refusing to compete in games where cheaters are nepotistically protected would be an effective solution to get moderators to do something about it. I'm no fan of Billy either and would simply refuse to compete in any game he has a score on, whether publicizing or not, and simply compete in one of the thousands of other games out there as I've mentioned in earlier posts.

By all means expose bad actors and get the public opinion on your side. But don't become one of the monsters you're fighting and don't go to court if your record isn't unblemished and you aren't ready to lose big. Fight with words and actions and cultivate a community that values integrity and refuses to offer cheaters any clout by giving them big leaderboards to be at the top of.

I know Moviebob is one of the most infamous lolcows ever, but he made a good point in his Building a Better Gamer video: if online players are notorious for being assholes (and you're not the type of person who enjoys that), an effective way to take the wind out of their sales is to refuse to engage with them and "make the virtual battlefield a lonely place for them" showing that sportsmanlike behavior is more important than winning. That video is the reason I still bother paying any attention to Moviebob to this day. And it's a shame gamers don't generally think like this. When Lance Armstrong and Barry Bonds are caught using Performance Enhancing Drugs, there's advocacy for more rules and penalties against it. Or when Johnny McEnroe and Tiger Woods are bad role models, it gets reported on and harms their reputations, to the point where even EA drops them as representatives in their tie-in sports games. Competitive gaming won't be taken seriously until we are (momentarily) willing to give up at least a few great players and scores for the purpose of maintaining good standards and fair play.

Really messed up. I feel awful for Billy Mitchell, I don't see how anyone can really hate the guy
I barely remember anything related to Mitchell before Jobst blew up as a lolcow but all I know is that he kind of has an ego about his Donkey Kong highscores and he dresses really weird. That's basically it. Maybe he's a douchebag in real life but that would barely measure on the lolcow scale. He seems to be able to handle problems like an adult, unlike i.e Todd Rogers whose reaction to being exposed for similar stuff was to file frivolous pro se lawsuits where he couldn't even spell his own fucking name right.

Jobst, in comparison, was a smug asshole who openly stated his desire to destroy Mitchell, take all of his assets, and then use that momentum to go after his son and likely other members of his family because he's a soulless dramanigger and years of porn use means that ruining the lives of others is the only thing that fires his dopamine receptors.

HoloDarkness is a disabled NEET from the same country, Australia. He also runs a Rareware game I'm not interested in (BFD) yet he'd be the guy to meet if I ever wanted to travel to meet my internet heroes, not Karl. Not only is he a more consistent top player in his game, and among the first to make the leap to Xbox One in the mid-2010s, which is still rare among Conker runners (and I doubt I would have done the same if I ran that game), he is now going to be less of a drain on the Australian taxpayer than Jobst as well!

He's just a Gen X guy. They are kind of autistic. He has a family and runs several businesses. Some people cry about his "lawfare" and yeah maybe there is something to that but regardless when you have a group of people so dedicated to ruining your life I can understand his POV. I would be pretty upset if someone made their entire career out of lying about me and trying to ruin my life LOL. As for the other suits, yeah maybe you can contest them, but its nothing really beyond the pale as far as lawsuits go.

I'm one of the people who never watched Karl videos until probably 2022 or 2023 and only found his videos because of knowing about Billy Mitchell. I've been loosely following Billy Mitchell drama for over 15 years. I saw The King of Kong a year or so after it came out and I thought Billy's whole persona was hilarious and he reminded me of an old pro-wrestling heel. I thought it was fascinating how he had sycophants doing his bidding. But what was equally fascinating was the amount of seething hatred he would get online from people who watched KoK and decided that they absolutely HATED him. I used to mildly troll Billy haters on this one forum just because they were so funny in how enraged they felt about him from the KoK movie, and this was before any cheating scandal.

Fast forward to now and it's not really surprising, to me, that ersatz has A-Logged over Billy Mitchell this hard. Does anyone know how he was able to afford to go from Washington state to Australia for this trial? That seems like quite the life interruption, if you're a normal adult.

There are two things that I have yet to confirm on their validity for all I've seen so far.
1. in this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CXHxzN4nVVg) this guy claims that someone, identifying himself to be Billy Mitchell's son, contacted him saying that there was only 1 lawsuit filed against Karl the whole time, and in this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSsfhNAPq-U&t=4s) he shows the lawsuit and it has always been about the Apollo Legend's issue. If you have followed this shitshow, Karl has always talked about multiple lawsuits, or at least 2 of them, even in the GoFoundMe he mentions "another defamation lawsuit". Is there any proof that there were more than 1 lawsuit that doesn't come from Karl himself?

2. They have been mention that Notch contributed monetarily to Karl's defense, this can be confirmed, or at least the intention was there, via Notch's twitter. I've heard from unverified sources that Karl's fired the lawyer Notch was paying from him, because this lawyer was pushing for a settlement and Karl didn't want that, then Karl fired him and got a different lawyer that would just agree with everything he said using the money and that's why Notch stopped supporting him. Does anyone have confirmation for this rumor?
