Even if someone was totally 100% just aping John K's style, who gives a shit? Beyond thr fact he was like an evolution of early golden age animation shit, just because someone uses a style or is influenced by someone it's not like the cartoon itself is capable of going and grooming then raping some teenager or whatever it was he did. People are so retarded.

They act like it's illegal to have any sort of artistic influence from someone who's work is something but personally is a piece of shit.
The whole animation scene at the time of John K's popularity was split between outsider art that was a reaction to the over-sanitized 80s, and UPA-inspired 50s/60s throwbacks. That's how you got things like the Powerpuff Girls with the angular 60s suburb style but modern 90s gorefest action scenes. John K was just another part of that, inspired by the past but distinctly using modern themes. His work WAS expressive, but it was also grotesque in equal part. Some of that was for comedy, but a lot of it was shock value and just...fucking gross. It's like the Garbage Pail Kids, they were beautifully illustrated cards but they were also disgusting. You don't need to have GPK to have beautiful illustrations, and you don't need John K type shlock to have expressive animation.

Lmao, what is this islamic content trailer by prime video on youtube.
I like some of the people saying how proud they were to work on this show.

Why would you be proud of this? Why would you defend this? Save the promotion for your resume the next time you work on another cartoon slop show for toddlers millennial consoomers.
The art looks like waffle stomped shit. The only uglier thing I've seen is shit like Big Mouth and as vile as that was, at least the ugliness was intentional.

Daily reminder that while Trump may have a second term right now. And just because companies and studios have lost money over letting pretentious woke tards work for them. That doesn't mean pop culture is instantly gonna be dropping wokeshit. The healing process is slow and laborious.

Speaking of big mouth we're just a month away from the 8th and thankfully last season of that trash. It shocks me to think frigging big mouth lasted almost a full decade.

I can't recall where it may have been youtube, but someone someplace said: "given this is the final season, and it's taking place in high school. If it ends with the incell jewboy Andrew going full school shooter. It could almost make this decade long run worth it."

Man. 80s cartoons in general are such a weird mix of goofy shit paired with weird moments of brilliance. MASK was one of those odd shows I found myself gravitating towards as a kid 'cause I always liked the vehicles. Especially the iRoc Camero (I still like the design of that car even though it's objectively shit and that it reeks of "peaked in high school").

There are several episodes in MASK where VENOM is presented as a clear and present threat, and Miles Mayhem himself can be menacing as fuck at times if written properly. "Death from the Sky", "The Magma Mole", and "The Sceptre of Rajim" are particular favorites of mine. But. There are moments where VENOM is just presented as a goofy no name organization that regularly fucks up a perfectly good scheme due to sheer retardation, or Matt's kid inexplicably fucking with them SOMEHOW. I dunno. I just wish there was a bit more consistency in some of these old shows. I think part of it is adults thinking kids are rock fucking stupid and can't handle high stakes shit (which is functionally retarded if you look at the entertainment in Japan).
