Let's Sperg Marathon 2025 - Bungie's new AAAA Extraction shooter

Played for couple of hours, solo, it seems that Bungie expects you to have two friends and convince them
to play with you, otherwise the game is not fun.

Enemies are bullet sponges, the most basic enemy AI needs 15 out of 30 bullets magazine to be put down,
whereas bigger ones need 1 magazine (only headshots) or more, making solo runs worse than a coinflip.

Player time to kill is almost the same as in Apex Legends. Movement feels very clunky because of the heat bar (stamina),
making it feel very restrictive. Can't sprint for more than 100ft which is absurd.
Sliding and attacking with your knife also fill up the heat bar.

Performance is not good, input lag is noticable and it crashed a few times.
Was forced keeping the left mouse clicked to aim becasue toggle didn't work which was very annoying.

Progression is not rewarding.

The only thing that it has going is how cheap is getting rearmed for the next run, making it forgiving compared to
other extraction shooters.

I think this is good. Fuck movement shooters. I hope this gets some CoD players killed trying their bullshit.

Am I the only one that feels like the textures are like, place holder development textures? the ones on the buildings and shit, they feel like those textures you'd get on untextured CS maps, the orange / box maps specifically?
Yeah I think I said in a post before a lot of the game looks like one guy trying to make an FPS using free Unity assets. The character models seem a bit more polished but overall this looks like something that belongs on Steam Greenlight.
Art Director statement. I don't know what are they going to do for 5 months, don't get your hopes up.
I cannot believe the UI is final, it looks so bad.

I dunno anything about extraction shooters but from the Marathon footage I've watched it looks like inventory management is a big part of those games so you'd think they'd want to nail the UI if the player is going to be spending a lot of time in it.

I've got 2000+ hours in Tarkov
I dropped the game after they launched the "Unheard" edition, fucking over everyone who bought the Edge of Darkness, which was supposed to have all future DLC.
It was the last straw in a game infested with cheaters, horrible netcode, and jank beyond belief.
Still the best of its kind sadly. Assuming SPTarkov even fucking works in linux.

horrifying, the game would have had a chance to succeed if it was anything but an Extraction Shooter, I really don't understand why the executives thought it was going to be successful when the market is rejecting Extraction Shooters and Battle Royale Games

Does the alpha shed light on what the goal is once you build up your character? Are there activities that require you to have crazy gear or do you just grief other players.

It isn't like in Tarkov, here you have automatic sorting on your backpack and on your vault.
So then what's the point of having the loot system? From the trailers it looked to me like there'd be a lot of the RE4/Borderlands style inventory juggling to maximise profits on runs.

Presumably Bungo is experimenting with features the same way a toddler experiments with his Thomas the Tank Engine toys; bashing them together haphzardly, eating some of them, and occasionally using them for their intended purpose.

There are very tanky and deadly enemy AI that drop very rare loot so you would need good shields and weapons
to deal with them. They respawn randomly at some point during the match

Because you are very limited in storage on your backpack you need to prioritize between guns, healing items, ammo,
materials to upgrade your preferred faction for permanent stats, contract items and money.

Movement shooters are great but TF|2 also set the bar so high that it's the only real one. CoD's schizophrenic zoomer shit and Gaypex's half assed titanfall movement are pale imitations and deserve to be hated. The stamina system here will probably see people optimizing movement to get the most speed for heat which might be kinda fun.

I have never seen TF2 being described as a movement shooter

These are Movement shooters. CoD in particular popularized the genre. Titanfall simps go in the pit.

Oh yea I can't wait for them to try and optimize the balance out of the game and attempt to cheese the mechanics.

Bungie was likely deathly afraid loot juggling would irritate controller players.
