For streaming, a ~$200 action camera is all one would need. I only use my decent camera because it has a conferencing feature and that means I don't need to buy a separate webcam to carry around, as I work remotely nowadays. I can just prop it up on a TRIPOD for conference calls. The difference is I use the thing for work and travel. I can justify owning half a grand kit, skelly can't.
