Mark Edward Kern / Grummz / Debbichan / foxyfighter - Former WoW Team Lead and "anti-DEI" grifter, would rather commission lesbian wrestling porn than finish a game

The problem is that "gamers" have fuck all standards or consistency when bitching about bad game design. People shit on Ubisoft's stale open world formula yet praise games that just straight up copy it mechanic for mechanic. Ghost of Tsushima was nothing more than cutscene, go kill mongols in generic ARPG combat, cutscene repeated for 60 hours all set in a beautiful yet very boring and static open world that felt like it was designed in 2010 but for some reason nobody mentions that when using the game to dunk on Assassin's Creed.
Wasn't one of the complaints about Tsushima that the open world wasn't really innovative? Along with not really doing the best job with the honor vs practicality question in terms of the story and MC? Also, I don't think the world was ever called static. And the most I've heard of the game being used to shit on AC is "Sucker Punch gave us an Assassin's Creed game set in feudal Japan before Ubisoft did".

Now we're waiting for Yotei to be released so Mark and others can bitch about more than the MC's VA.

The real question is whether he actually knows how to install mods in order to use the gender mod for Oblivion that he's been raving about.

I don't remember hearing any real complaints of just how boring the world was. If I had heard them I wouldn't have wasted my money on it.

And then wonder why companies double down on DEI when they see his ridiculous rants.

DEI is a plague that limits the creative options of any developer working for a AAA company in America - especially any which BlackRock or BlackStone (two separate investment firms in the same incestuous relationship) have gotten their slimy tentacles into (read: every AAA publisher). But bad game design is the bigger problem, obvious to anyone who has been paying attention to AAA games over the last 5-7 years. CERO's shit influence in Japan is pretty well known to most people who have been playing Japanese games for long enough.
This is one of the biggest issues I've had with modern GamerGate community recently. Most of them forgot that wokeness was used as a shield to protect from criticism (ex: "You hate my game because it's marginalized, not because it's bad, BIGOT!!!) especially in the early days, and it was only part of the problem when it came to bad games. The problem is, nobody bothered to make a definitive definition they could refer to in order to keep the narrative straight and narrow in order to "deflect the deflection" and actually criticize the game for being bad. Between that and most studios getting waaaaay too comfy using this tactic in everything, we now have GamerGate2. Where game studios want wokeness in everything unironically and not just as a smokescreen. And the GG'ers have devolved into grifting retards using the language of the original movement haphazardly, distilling them down into annoying buzzwords alongside new ones.

The end result is nobody cares about good games anymore. They care more about talking about the culture war side of it exclusively in podcasts and social media, playing snake oil salesmen to the industry instead of pushing for any meaningful change outside of "this woman should be hot" or "does this diversity program at this game studio really work?". And everyone's looking like annoying retards because of it. Even industry vets like Mark and Doug TenNapel (the crazy christian creator of Earthworm Jim turned NFT enthusiast) aren't immune to the allure of the Grift Wars.

CERO is a new one to me though, since I don't pay attention to the Japanese scene all that much. If you have any examples of their meddling you're willing to share on this topic, I'd be interested in looking into it further.

No, the problem is that retards on the internet frequently ignore the definition of words and just change the actual meaning to fit their worldview or to win a discussion.

You cannot have any discussions with people these days without a 20 page disclaimer that defines all words beforehand, because otherwise you have faggots bitching because they are using their own personal make-belief dictionary.

Just go out there and ask people what a "Terrorist Organization" is, and watch them bend over backwards to explain why Gaza should not be glassed to the bedrock, without you ever mentioning Gaza.

Then ask them why the term "woman" needs to be expanded to include other people, who are by definition, no women.

The entire retarded woke debate is about people who want inclusion and are willing to change dictionary, biological and scientific definitions of things because otherwise their retarded opinions, identity and worldview won't fit.'

[EDIT] This also applies to the right-wing, but to a lesser degree.

The worst thing about CERO is the advertising and placement restrictions. CERO Z games cannot be advertised and have to basically be kept in the equivalent of the porn section at the old neighborhood video store, which kills the commercial potential for a Z-rated game and pushes publishers to make developers self-censor to avoid a Z, unless the game is a big enough property for a Z-rated version to be sold alongside a CERO D version that CAN be advertised and sold openly.

From what I understand, CERO ratings aren't complete death sentences but a lot of game companies try to get a lower rating (CERO A, which is equivalent to ESRB's E) to get the broadest audience possible so you could get devs who opt to self-censor. They typically go after violence than sex so the Palutena thing is new to me (apparently it was about potential upskirt shots), one of the most notable rules is no depictions of a person being restrained and tortured. This caused a change in the Final Fantasy VI port and notoriously Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker. MGS is typically rated D (our M) while PW was rated C (our T).

The new Titanfall was gonna be an extraction shooter, you mouth breather.

Ignoring that ones who bought KCD2 are people who never gave a rats ass for the "muh kultur warz" faggotry or people who liked KCD1. How about we also add that maybe it sold because you spergs couldn't shut up with your "DIS GAEM HAS GOEN WOKE!!! REEE!!!" and thus it had the effect of saaay...Hogwarts Legacy.
There also suspicion that the “translation” of the interview Vavra did is not entirely correct and may be full of shit.
We need some Czech kiwis to confirm what the interview say.

Gotta love the irony of naming a site "Giant Bomb" when all gaming journos did exactly that.
Giant. Bomb. Hard.

I do wonder what kind of massive freakout would Grummz have if suddenly Musk boi announced that he's selling off Twitter.

@Creepypasta Mario one of the examples of CERO @DickoTheClown mentioned was that apparently Masahiro Sakurai clashed a lot because of the design of Palutena being “too sexual”. And overall CERO is just the ESRB but ten times worse.
CERO is the ESRB's puritanical and tyrannical Japanese cousin. They are responsible for a lot of the censorship of Japanese games, as well as the censorship of foreign games that want to be released in Japan. Worse yet, CERO only seems to become more and more puritanical and overreaching as it goes on.

As garbage of a game as it was, The Last of Us 2 was censored in Japan (you might say they were spared, but censorship is censorship), and it was forced to take a Z rating on top of that. Say what you will about TLoU2, but devs having to waste time and resources to censor their games for CERO is a net negative. Censorship of any kind for a game meant for adults is just retarded and bad.

The Callisto Protocol also never released in Japan (its release was cancelled) because CERO demanded that the violence be scaled back if the game wanted a CERO rating at all, and the dev refused to compromise the integrity of the game just for a retarded ratings board.

Dragon Quest 3's devs complained extensively about CERO and having to comply with their weird puritanical views in a 90-minute interview that has unfortunately been taken down. Those outfits that everyone was complaining about being censored? Long-time DQ fans (not tourists who suddenly claimed to have always loved DQ) fully saw it coming. CERO is the reason why it happened before it even released in Japan (so no, buying the Japanese version will only rid you of localization, it won't give you uncensored outfits). In fact, CERO's censorship of the same or similar outfits can be seen even in Japan-only releases of games in the Dragon Quest series. The only reason the original DQ3 wasn't censored like that is that it released in 1988, 14 years before CERO even started.

A two-minute clip of that interview made its rounds in the anti-woke circles featuring what has now been determined to be mistranslated subtitles, construing that Western Wokeness is why the games were censored. Of course, pedophiles Grummz and Rev says Desu, infuriated by the fact that a teenager's ass and tits were now covered by skintight pieces of cloth, shouted to the heavens that this was a plot by Western Blue-Haired Wokies.

Had Grummz been an actual fan of the DQ series and not just a gaming tourist, or if he even had an iota of integrity or research skills, he would know these things. But he's just a pedo who wants to goon to anime children.

Also for context: He's talking about Polygon, another drain gutter video game journalist website, reportedly being bought out by ValNet and possibly liquidated.
Good riddance, tbh. Almost as bad as Kotaku.
But frankly, I'm more concerned that the former employees will seek work elsewhere and spread like locusts, much like Bungie will if Marathon and the new DLC for Destiny 2 fails, but Mark, as usual, jumps on a bandwagon too early in order to grandstand and LARP as Mr. "I saved video games!"

To be fair, this issue only occurs on mobile devices. The image I uploaded isn't very large, though it might affect some PCs. I'll show you a screenshot.

Counter point: Least Kotaku and Polygon used to write about videogames before they went to shit, it's more than I can say about that "Fandom pulse" faggotry that Grummz loves bringing up as a "muh legit info source guyz"
Mofo, there was a guy in your own comment section that tore you a new fucking asshole and explained what the actual interview was about. Take the "L" and shove it. Also, whos "we"?
