DOOM

I gotta say, hes very smart. Like theres a point on the, I think 6th map, where theres a secret that is easily seen as you get to the top of the labyrnth like area, but there is a single spectre down there that will stop you with his infinitely tall hitbox. Thats devious.

Anyway, I think im gonna also download gz again to try some wads, heard Memento Mori is great

Edit: On Argent Facility, while Im not there yet, from memory Titan's Realm and ARC Complex were my (visually) favorite maps on the respective games.

Also glad to play ID6/7 again, it runs like buttler, compared with Metro Exodus still clogging from time to time on my pc

Edit 2 to avoid double post: Holy Shit, 67 GB? Is ID the only company in the market who knows how to optmize a game?

Got to Titan's Realm, as good as I remember. I think im gonna save the last 3 maps for after I visit my friend's house, them I start Eternal, since it takes a bit longer to get used to it than 2016.

Finished the campaign, yeah it was pretty good. Started Eternal and somehow I think I died more to the plataforming on Exultia than to the enemy.
Still pretty rusty, but I think the Mars Core and ARC Complex levels are the best, really like the continuous change of layout.

Oh look, a normally looking face.

Not an ill-ridden blob like it was in Eternal. With eyes as big and wide as your tranime in doom can be.

The TDA face is still not truly accurate to the Doom 2 mugshot, despite the insistence on them being the same character. But I don't really see these games in the same canon so I don't really care. Me thinks they got the guys who did the faces in Wolfenstein TNO to do the ones for TDA. I would hire the crap out of those guys because the models they made are unironically some of the most realistic humans I've ever seen in artwork and games.

Seriously how did they screw up the models in TNC as bad as they did?

I find that he actually looks kinda like an ultra HD rendition of the Doom 3 marine.

Doom 3 remake that ruins everything when?

(My speculative take)

The look of Doomguy has always been based on id artist Kevin Cloud -- and with the advent of the id Vault showing us the WIP mugshot sprites (with black hair Doomguy even being the first in file name order), we have more evidence that supports this.

The reason they (my guess) changed his hair from black to light brown in the original games is because it appeared too flat, so they went with the wider color palette to add texture and depth. I think the nose and eyebrows are a pretty dead giveaway
Kevin Cloud is Doomguy.webp

New design for the slayer from the artbook. Apparently if you own a physical disk you can access the artbook straight off. Was hoping the poster would've given us a concrete weapon concept art list, but its just a couple things from the game. Note that there are some minor spoilers in there.

Finished Eternal and the dlcs, a similar experience to the original, but a bit faster since I was on hurt me plenty.
Taras Nabad remains really cool, and while Im not the biggest fan of the encounters, Urdak remains one of the most gorgeous areas I saw in a game.
Again I may be the only person to struggle with the bosses, even the Khan Maykr.
UAC Atlantic also remains gorgeous, and so is World Spear.

In general, I think I will replay them on the future, unlike TNT, Master Levels or base Doom 3, but much less frequent than Ultimate Doom, 2 or No Rest for the Living. More or less on the same level of Plutonia and 64 on the scale of "how many times Im playing it a year"

No way Im doing the Master Levels for Eternal unless I really lock in

We got an official lawnch trailer. Naturally, hyperino through the rooferino.

And this bit right here perfectly summarizes why the series is dead. Close range double barrel shotgun blast, nothing happens. The monster doesn't recoil or stagger, just some random chunks fly off and you do the actual work with the melee weapon.
