In a way, cocaine was a 'blessing' to Aaron and made him leaving the Qover easier. If this were a sober polycule, Aaron's efforts and letter to his wife would've been seen more as coming from a position of envy and not what it truly was from: a drug-accelerated relationship spiral in which the end (the arrests) was somewhat justified by the means (Aaron's desperation letter to April)

I just don't understand the thought process behind the idea that Aaron was wrong for trying.

Now, if you are saying that if April had been less of an addict and didn't pull that ultimatum and let's say they'd all dialed it back 50% or so would Aaron still be creaming Kayla, while Nick peeks around the corner? Yup, I can believe it. Yet it does genuinely seem like Aaron reached a point he wouldn't go below and I actually believe him when he says that he was the only one not doing coke, etc.
