Damn, this thread moves too fast. Nick would fail at the 8th and 9th Steps. I know somebody who has been in AA for 25 years, and they have told me most of the people they sponsor fail to maintain sobriety through the 12 Step program because it is such a huge hurdle for many alcoholics to jump.

Steps 8 and 9:
8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.

9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.
