Not Just Bikes / r/fuckcars / Urbanists / New Urbanism / Car-Free / Anti-Car - People and grifters who hate personal transport, freedom, cars, roads, suburbs, and are obsessed with city planning and urban design

So when the whiny tranny faggot from the bike club shows up at the city council meeting, he's speaking for the Rotarians with the bikes that cost more than you car and the politicians know it.
I sure wish I had a hobby I could argue for public expenditure on. You're right it just so happens it's serendipity that their hobby happens to be vaguely arguable as some sort of public infrastructure. Though it is a cope that they're doing this for the average blue collar Joe.

You wanna see how quickly cycling enthusiasts change when they actually get what they wanted and the bike lane is clogged up with the elderly, people hauling stuff, children, etc. And they can't race around like they originally thought.

Similar to guys like Matt Farah saying how much better roads will be if they were clear of peons blocking the way of his supercars. Suprise other people use the road too to do shit. It's not just your private race track.

They can't use real trucks in the car lanes because you idiots lobbied for a congestion charge and replacing loading zones/parking with bike lanes:

You don't need a truck, a cargo bike is just as good.
NOOO! NOT LIKE THAT!

You touched on a lot of my problems with bikefags. The insistence that everyone else's world must grind to a halt to please their aesthetic sense. The complete and utter blindness to the consequences of the sweeping changes they want coupled with the massive Dunning-Kruger arrogance about how they've thought of everything and if something doesn't work it's only because True Bikefagging has never been tried.

And yes, if they got their way and everyone had to ride around on a self-propelled ass dildo like they wanted they'd be mad at the filthy casuals doing it wrong because they liked bikes before they were cool.

I feel like the hypocrisy of road damage and bike lane usage is on full display, but you definitely hit it with the "aesthetic sense". When I'm on the road, I don't care about the demographics of others. Sure, I care about the demographics of my city/state/country, but as long as you, as another person in a vehicle, aren't doing something like running a red light, braking at inopportune moments, or otherwise a problem, I see you as I would anyone else (bumper stickers usually exacerbate issues).

With cyclists, they definitely have elitism in who can use the bike lane. They don't want to be seen near a bum on a Walmart bike, or some other miscreant they pretend to be cool with but secretly hate, and they definitely don't like the bicycle equivalent of an 18-wheeler. I'm surprised they aren't demanding second lanes to pass and forgetting that they'll be asking for "just one more lane" unironically.

Why are they so pissed off at those mini-trucks? They're an infinitely safer way of moving around cargo than the death trap nigger rigged contraptions r/fuckcars posters unironically ride and post to "prove" they don't need a car. Oh, wait, I just answered my own question.

I'm genuinely worried about one of those retards slamming someone with one of those things. Like imagine if that bus stop clip happened while the guy was hauling a lawnmower or some shit. Kid would be fuckin dead.

It would be funny to see them try to argue exactly how it should be legislated out of the bike lane.

Can you say that we should ban anything with more than two wheels?

"Well no because then that's ableist and not everyone can ride a bike with two wheels. Bikes are for everyone!"

Can you say that the bike lane should be banned from commercial use?

"No because people who do food delivery like Uber eats require it to make a living".

There is pretty much no argument they can make to actually argue why they don't belong in the bike lane other than vague feelings. Amazon is allowed to use public infrastructure just as much as anyone else is. This is basically the equivalent of saying I can't drive my Ferrari as fast as I want because those stupid semis are in the way. They are a nuisance to them, but nothing more. They are not able to objectively justify what exactly why they shouldn't be allowed because they have no reasonable argument against them.

Because you're trying to see the ground ahead of the hood and it lets your Sideview mirrors show you things that are tighter to the car and lower down. All in all not the worst habit ever for tight spaces at low speed but it's still a bad habit and it shows a lack of spacial awareness and can indicate badly adjusted mirrors, ESPECIALLY with a trailer.
Yeah, you're probably right. In my defence, my first car came with only one (left) side mirror.

A load limit could work but then you'll get the air conditioning unit strapped to a bicycle crowd, or the cargo bike crowd mad.

Even if they specifically ban the Amazon bikes, the utility of a bike lane starts to drop off.

I hope they ban the Amazon and UPS cargo bikes. They've already made it all but impossible to run a non-food/alcohol-based business in Manhattan, but the bugmen didn't notice because they buy everything online now. It'll be hilarious when they have to take an hour long $100 Uber to Queens or Jersey to go shopping because there are no stores nearby and no one delivers anymore.

I think at that point if they specified an individual (singling out Amazon) to be banned that would open up way too many problems for litigation in court. Especially when the prospect is taking Amazon of all companies to court. Will prove to be ehh.. messy.

Thought that just occurred to me: Why do these people never complain about "Internet dependency"? By which I mean, how society is rapidly moving towards requiring being online in some form, in some cases even mandating owning a smartphone. Restaurants replacing paper menus with QR codes. How (particularly in China at the moment, but inevitably in the west in the near future) payment is expected through a phone app, with even a standard credit card not being an option. Job applications having to be done online. Schools issuing Chromebooks to students. Banks closing physical locations. Surely this is a far more pernicious and insidious intrusion of technology into people's everyday lives than cars ever were?

Because they are part of the terminally online themselves. Despite bitching for a community, these people never want to be part of one, anything involving going outside freaks them out. It's also bold to assume they do anything worthwhile in their lives too. These types also freak out at getting jobs, even online ones where they can stay at home, it all comes down to "Rules for thee, but not for me." In fact, they would probably praise internet dependency and learned helplessness

Browsing this subforum I was so glad to see a thread precisely on Not Just Bikes. I had the misfortune of running across that channel several years ago and initially thinking it was just going over alternative design and interesting ideas. It only took 1 and a half videos or so before I got a distinct marxist authoritarian vibe from these weirdos. They weren't interested in sharing ideas their goal is to force you to live only in the way they think you should. And the whole package is draped in that cloud of soyboy smug "I have already considered all possibilities and this is the objective truth so just bow down to me." I started calling them Not Just Communism.

In all honesty it probably IS in line with their goals. They aren't the sort that have ever talked about privacy or personal autonomy before to my recollection.

They are in favor of the surveillance state so long as they're the ones running it.

Suburbs and rural areas stay winning
