In the last book(s) there is a bit of tension about the position of non-wizards in the wizarding world. They're the ones with the most power. Voldemort is getting a lot of support from magical creatures as well since he promises to emancipate them. This tension also carries through in harry's refusal to give back the sword. It's not a lot.

In one of the later books one of the older Weasley kids mentioned trying to make sure the goblins didn’t side with Voldemort. Molly doesn’t think there’s any shot of them joining him since the Deatheaters killed goblins, but he points out that they’ve been treated pretty badly by wizards in general and aren’t keen to see them win either.
