Death Battle - Analyzing weapons, armor, and skills on the Internet since 2010.

. But you can still tell their hesitance with how tame the death was... and it was a little short for fighters with vast cosmic powers.
In terms of the death, would it really be in character for either of these guys to kill womeone in a way that could be mistaken for a Mortal Kombat fatality or brutality?

As for length, all that really has to be done is display all the significant powers and forms for each of the characters, so that could leave other things to complain about.

There’s a couple reaction videos that are really mad that Kyle lost. There’s one that was ranting that it’s bullshit that Simon one because “so just because he did a thing means he can always do it?!” and it becomes really obvious he didn’t know anything about Gurren Lagann

Aren't like 90% of these fights won by somebody who did one really crazy thing once in a very specific scenario and because of that they can now throw a punch with the power of 49 trazillion teratons of TNT? Since when is "they did it only once" an argument?

welcome to power scaling

This one was extra funny because the complaint was the thing they were claiming happened only once is pretty much how every major Gurren Lagann fight goes, because that’s how Spiral Energy works.

I love how they referenced the shitstorm that happened the last time a Green Lantern was on Death Battle.
It's definitely going to be a gag fight like Spongebob vs Aquaman, Saitama vs Popeye, any Deadpool fight, or Scooby vs Courage.
Or Smokey vs McGruff.

Who the hell does that guy think he is?

And look at what’s happened since then.

This growing obsession with (only certain characters of course) having "proper respect" is so cringe. Like plenty of popular characters got sudden or brutal deaths, the idea only some "deserve" to have nice deaths reeks of people unable to handle their media daddies dying in brutal ways. Just look at how Halo fans reacted to Master Chief's death.
I think the idea is that the brutal deaths is somehow out of character for some of the ones carrying them out. Hell, stick around long enough and maybe you’ll come across folks who say certain characters would be friends instead of fighting, like Goku and Superman.

Yeah, but most Death Battles are very OOC. Especially hero/hero battles. And yeah the "No, they'd be friends!" cope I've see. So blatantly used as a way to avoid talking about the character they like dying.

"Goku would gape and destroy any verse...oh...but uh...S-Superman? No, no, they'd totally be friends..."

Why, because they’re…fighting to the death? Is it because they’re resorting to violence to settle whatever flimsy setup to a fight is brought up in the animation? Is it the thing where they’re fighting against somebody they’d otherwise be on friendly terms with?

At a certain point, I think that if you have characters on Death Battle be “in character”, you wouldn’t have a show at all. Or you’re stuck with a lot of restrictions.

Well, yeah. That's exactly my point. Most Death Battles are very OOC, that's literally what I was getting at, yes. It's never really bothered me, but it clearly bothers a lot of other people.

Like if a character is OOC it could contribute to their chances of victory and stuff, but not only that it would be annoying to have people get a wrong impression of a character from being portrayed incorrectly.

Like it's something fans of those characters want to see even if Death Battle plays it loose a little by letting Batman kill for example.

A great example of this is how Death Battle just took all the nuance from Asura away just to make him a rabid dog that Kratos needs to put down

That's the kind of thing that bothers me, yeah. Would Doom Slayer tear a human apart the same way he did Master Chief? Dunno, probably not, but it was cool as fuck. Or like Jonathan and Tanjiro would never fight for the reasons they did, but it was still a fun fight anyway, it didn't bother me. It'd only be just totally misrepresenting the character so badly they might as well not be the character that I don't like it.

Yeah like it's one thing to have characters who normally wouldn't kill be given the chance to kill their enemy, it's another if they act like a completely different character like how Makima vs Gojo pretty much made Makima into a giggling buffoon
