The bald eagle population has been booming around here. It is sort of surreal to just be driving down the road and see one chilling up on the streetlight. Especially since I have never seen one in the wild up until 10 years ago. They seem to like waiting above the roads for a dumb ass squirrels to run out from the cover of brush on to the open road. So they are easy to spot when your out driving. There is a pair that live not far from me. They completely DESTROY seagulls. It took me awhile to put 2 and 2 together the first time I found seagull parts in my driveway.

Although this thread has inspired me to take a nice walk in the forest preserve this weekend and look for nice birds. I'll take pictures.

Blue Jay's can be real assholes, pretty birds tho. All the cardinals I seen were monogamous and faithful

This reminded of is how awesome penguins look when they're swimming. Not really related, but until pigs learn to fly in the Gulf of America my attention is on birbs.

About time this thread got interesting. I just moved for work from the East Coast to the West.

Its been cool to see all the new bird species that I have never seen before. I have to start taking pictures.

I know they aren’t technically birds, but I’ve been noticing a lot of bats here in the evenings/dusk recently, we must have a colony nearby.
They’re pretty neat to watch fly about, and the squeaks they make are really interesting to listen to.

A pair of Keas I saw on the side of the road. They're real bastards, they'll strip out the rubber seals around car windows or destroy windscreen wipers. Not for any reason but their own amusement.

If you can access the BBC, Spring Watch are filming a few miles from where I live. One of the chapels at a massive stately hall has a door which has a small gap where Bats can roost. It's amazing to see them all come and go. It's about 30 minutes in.

There’s been a massive shift towards red tail hawks in my area, I see them flying around constantly. Thought they might have been what left a torn apart rabbit corpse in the yard until I saw that some foxes moved in under a nearby shed

Anyway it’s the lovely time of spring/summer where you can sleep with the window open and get greeted by a bunch of bird sings when you wake up. Saw a lot of red cardinals walking my dog the other day too.

Recently moved into a new neighborhood, and despite being in an urban area, it looks like a few of my neighbors are raising chickens. Fairly common in this part of the world.

Honestly haven't noticed them making any noise yet, so I'll enjoy it, as a bit of local flair
