Just found out that the english voice actor of Meowth in the anime was a tranny that died (not because of suicide, shocking)

He alternates between Nidoking and Neyedoking which is somehow even more distracting.
Someone adjusted 3D Pokémon animations, aturation, and even shiny palettes.
His YouTube shorts have plenty of these 'glow ups', one per Pokémon.
He's got the right idea, but some of these scream "hire this man".

Yeah, good thing he put that note there because the execution is worse than GF's. The Gyarados one is fine, but the others mostly just flail around for the sake of adding movement. All you really need for most old Pokemon is to reuse the animations from Colosseum and Battle Revolution.

Also, we've heard of bad animations, we've heard of desaturated colors, but know what else gen 6 made worse?
(Warning: loud)

The gen 5 cries.
Maybe it's because I'm nostalgic for Unova, but gen 5 Pokemon cries were absolutely butchered in gen 6. Other gens are mostly fine, there's a couple of really bad ones (Raichu was robbed *sigh*), but for the most part they're higher quality or at least understandable changes to make the Pokemon sound more organic*, but almost all gen 5 cries were made worse. Reshiram was really screwed over, it went from a divine alien dragon to a dog.

*Except for the dragons. Most dragon types and dragonlike Pokemon, like Charizard, Salamence, Groudon, Haxorus or Zekrom had monster sounds added on top of their cries and they sound godawful.

I was fucking pissed when I heard Haxorus' cry in X/Y. BW/B2W2 had that blade-swipe sound that related to the axe horns on it's face and not only did they completely get rid of it, but they made him sound WAY too lower pitched and like he's got phlegm stuck in his throat due to a bad cold.

The cries are one of the most basterdized thing about new pokemon. Even new-gen pokemon sound lame and the "evolved" past gen pokemon is just lazy as fuck
  • "Hey, we're giving dunsparce an evolution, what should it's cry be?"
  • "Oh just pitch it down a notch and just loop the middle part a couple of time where it sound like it's glitching out. No I don't care that it sounds like shit, it's my lunch break!"

Some of the gen 9 mons straight up use stock sounds in their cries. Crocalor, Wattrel and Kilowattrel use the same stock sounds as some Spore mouth parts.

Crocalor:

Spore's tapir/horse mouths:

Kilowattrel:

Spore's fish mouths:
Pokémon SV confirmed to run at 60 fps now on switch 2.

So that’s neat.
The gaymers who lower the texture resolution to 144p to run games at a quadrillion FPS will be very pleased.

Oh my god someone else finally fucking noticed this.

It baffles me how nobody has mentioned it, not once, before you. All the fucking dogs they introduced have these extremely generic barks as well. I can barely remember any cries past gen 5 and I only stopped playing around the middle of gen 7. Something really fucked up the way cries were designed in between gens 6 and 7, because I can still remember at least a few gen 6 cries, but I couldn't recall a single one past 7 if you put a gun to my head. I think the only exception might be Espathra, and that's just because it's so contrary to the design that it genuinely made me think the fabric ostrich was supposed to be a girly robot made out of chrome.

Pokémon Gamma Emerald (currently at 3.1.0) is contagious.

Then again, th is not new. Someone was making an Octopath Traveler-inspired remake of Pokémon Platinum.

im alive and i have return from the distortion world. i added a few cool things (check desc). i haven't really been working on the project that much but i got this done in a month, didn't really have time on this project because i was and still tryingto survive college. and im also making an unrelated original game.

as for the unrelated game that im working on. it's a 1-bit stylized action platfomer something closer to like the megaman zero game, i know some of you will just ignore this project and i don't blame you for that since i know a lot of the people that subscribe came for the pokemon octopath. but i'll be uploading some gameplay of my other project into this channel too. and i hope that you can support me there to.

but don't worry im still going to focus on pokemon octopath, i have a target right now and that is making the game until the first gym before next year. well that's all i wanted to say for now. see you guys in 100 years ;))))

I think there's more romhacking tools now. Should I attempt to make an Emerald hack?
If you want to do anything more than basic edits, I'd recommend using the Emerald decomp. Getting it set up can be a hurdle, but it's way easier in the longrun when making changes because you're working with the game's code directly and don't need to fuck around with a hundred tools.

Hope this isn't too off topic, I've been playing Monster Hunter Stories and it really scratches the Pokemon itch; if you want a more mature Pokemon (and not in le edgy creepypasta way) I very strongly recommend it. It's sillier and cuter than the main line game but still feels a lot more challenging and dark than mainline Pokemon. The combat style is standard JRPG style which is a bonus if you suck at the mainline MH games like me :)

IIRC the Cetitan line is also guilty of this. I know that Cetoddle uses a stock cry that’s shared and pitched with Koraidon/Miraidon and that same stock sound effect is used in Banjo-Tooie’s soundtrack for ambience.

I’ve had no interest in ZA besides spiteful apprehension so I hadn’t actually seen what the plot was until I saw some joke video about the real villain being a taxi driver who wishes his business took over Kalos, and let me say I think I fucking hate it

Oh what’s that, you thought the Z-A in the title would be some cool thing about the legendaries? Nope fuck you it’s literally because you rank up through the alphabet in some dumb tournament. The fucking alphabet like we’re in kindergarten again, okay.

And the prize for the tourney is…. A wiiish! Hey remember that retarded fucking unexplained time travel/wish fulfillment plot point from SV that was shat all over with Teal Mask (ha ha loser kid wishing for friends, if you wish to better yourself you’re a toxic murderer like these dumb Pokemon according to this story that’s even more retarded than the story that was supposed to be a lie, accept being bullied forever… oh not you player-kun you’re so coool you can do everything and have all the praise). It’s dumb and childish and doesn’t make sense for a modern setting, at least if it was in the past like Arceus it could have been some superstition based on a legendary Pokemon that could turn out to be real in the end, but in a hyper-modern setting something like that would long have been observed and explained, or else dismissed as superstition. So I can only assume if this taxi driver won the tourney he’d be able to actually commission the government to replace all transportation with his taxis. But the retard pattern-seekers will drop their jaws and coooom because they did the thing that was in the other thing and that means it’s good even if it’s the most retarded shit humanly possible.

I want Ohmori beheaded and his remains pulped down to the atomic level. Disconnect his protons from his neutrons so he can never be reconstructed in even the slightest form and scatter him to the solar winds. Kill

somehow the thing that pisses me off the most is, if any of those leaks are even slightly right the story will be slightly similar to my XY remake story which would be really annoying if I ever released it because then retards would go “oh you got the idea from ZA!!” but no I had nothing to do with that retard shit get it away from me. At least if they really do fucking nothing with Xerneas and Yveltal I can have free reign with them.

Im a very casual fan, and I was just gifted a 3DS which I modded and now I'm playing Omega Ruby for the first time. I played up until sinnoh, then stopped. My first video game ever was Sapphire, and I remember panicking and wasting my master ball on an Absol because I thought it was a legendary pokemon after seeing the Jirachi Wishmaker movie. Any tips for someone who's getting back into it? Or silly stories from when you were a dumb kid
Necro-quoting, I know, but I also played up until Sinnoh and then basically stopped for a decade+ until I picked up X, AS and Sun secondhand. My advice for anyone getting back into the modern games after Gen 3 is to enjoy the extreme levels of generosity, ignore the jank and the 4chan board, and if you’re feeling nostalgic, come see how incredibly far the old gen romhacks have come- shit like Radical Red and Emerald Seaglass are worthy of being put on carts.

I don’t have too many dumb kid stories (I had the Prima guides helping me after all) but in my desperation for a good Psychic type in Gen 2 my dumb kid ass tried very hard to make Unown work, since I didn’t want to use Kadabra (couldn’t evolve it without link cable), Hypno (too ugly), Espeon (Umbreon was cooler), Girafarig (no thanks), or Lugia (cheating, boring, should’ve been a Water type).

With Black Bolt and White Flare's Japanese release coming up this week Illustrator Rares and Secret Illustrator Rares are beginning to leak out into the open.

Unfortunately it appears that God packs (where a pack will have 6 Illustrator Rares cards or higher) are making a return. The upside is that, thanks to the leaks confirming it on our end, Poke Ball holos and Master Ball holos won't be etched like Prismatic Evolutions were.

Oh, and one more thing.
I just love how the Archeops line goes from having amateurish art in the Archen IR to having beautiful art in the Archeops IR.
Archen.webpArcheops.webp
Oh, and the Archeops' Ability is a slight throwback to its NVI print: It lets you devolve one of opponent's Evolved Pokémon in play if it's in the Active Spot once per turn. Too bad it'll be impossible to play thanks to the annoying little shit-rat that is Budew.
