Plagued /r/TNOmod and the Reddit HOI4 modding community - When a subreddit for a video game mod turns to utter insanity

(even the biggest TNO hater can admit that superevents are pretty cool for example)
Cool? Sure. Innovative? You do know that Civ IV and Medieval 2 were doing 'superevents' fifteen years before TNO launched, right?
Roll a D20 to find out how your death will benefit Evropa
Genuinely surprised that TNO autism hasn't translated yet into someone making a DnD module.

I am convinced that TNO fans are kids who don't play games besides hoi4, and don't read books. Which is a shame, because there are countless books with better writing than TNO. If you cannot read something without flashing lights on a screen, there are also many video games that outshine TNO. It's been said a thousand times, but Hoi4 is not supposed to be a narrative game.
I remember reading posts by TNO fans about how they tried vanilla and other mods and ended up utterly failing. TNO is a good strategy game for people who don't play strategy games, and a good story for people who don't read. The "placebo effect" of Soy4 mods. Young people need to read books more, otherwise they will mistake some 15 year old's fanfic about dead Nazis and U.S. Politicians as "good writing"

I think that's kinda irrelevant. It's innovative to mod new things into HOI4. Not a contest to create entirely new concepts.
Sure, it's technically impressive to mod a soundtrack into a popup event in a Paradox game, but I don't think adding something that big titles in the genre were doing over a decade ago should be considered innovative and it just further showcases how illiterate HoI4's target demographic is when it comes to strategy games that bringing Paradox's presentation to their level is treated as lifechanging.

The 2010s era of young people reading YA dystopiaslop like Hunger Games and Divergent suddenly doesn't seem so bad anymore, at least people actually read books.

Also I'm shocked no one made a HOI4 Hunger Games mod. There is like kind of divided America in that lore.

A true desciple of Sun Tzu's art of war would type in "delall" followed by the tag name to achieve a flawless victory.
As Sun Tzu once said, "The bad gamer tries to learn the game, the good gamer learns how to exploit the game."

On the Lacerda update, I give up. Not because of the difficulty but because some arbitrary event within the game changes the main focus tree, thereby erasing most of the progress I made. Add that to another reason TNO is a shitty mod.

All this spergery about TNO makes me realize, why isn't there a proper grand strategy set during the Cold war and all the unique situations and flashpoints that is a balance of winning the ideological war for the major NATO and Warsaw pact nations and unaligned a unique position.

Even the Reddit is revolting. All these years without updates is too much even for some of them, it's a sea of deleted posts (deleted for "being a dick") out there and everything that survived is shitting on the devs for ruining the mod. Fun read.

Also maybe take it with a grain of salt since it's a 4chan screencap but the lead for this update may have followed through on his promise and resigned. This is something he said he would do last year so it's actually believable and given how these things have worked out in the past that likely means that the tag is now dead.

EDIT: Broken link fixed.
Ostland had the best content ever planned for Europa Narben when I was on the team. I remember a SS pirate path with Lovecraftian theme, which had the best artwork ever made (even to this day). But I believe the team collapsed, and last time I heard about it, Ostland development was frozen after restarting it from scratch three times since release. It's the biggest missed opportunity of the TNO
This is the cool shit that we could have gotten. Honestly it weas mentioned before but TNO shoulda been KX cold war. One dude once mentioned stuff like Oskar Dirlewgner being owned by some sledgehammer wielding babushka was the Hart and Seol of TNO and I kinda agree. Is this realism any better than Sablin whom if being honest I hope they don't actually axe him. I learned to appreciate him too given if they get rid of him its another thing of lost content. I wish former devs came forward more with their ideas.

HOI4 honestly has become a game that i just boot up and map paint when i'm bored, idgaf anymore about learning whatever faggy mechanics Paradox decides to cram into their 9 year old game.
Ever since I stopped my subscription to the DLC pack, my enjoyment of HoI4 has increased. Makes you think about what Paradox is even trying to do anymore.

Closest game I can think of is Supreme Ruler: Cold War. Even then, that game has issues to say the least.

As Sun Tzu once said, "The bad gamer tries to learn the game, the good gamer learns how to exploit the game."
This reminds me how HOI4 feels so arcade-y to me. It really doesn't feel like a WW2 strategy game at this point. I remember in the comments of a YT video about HOI4 someone described the game as something like "EU4 in 1936".

I'm hopeful for a game called Espiocracy.

Paradox was going to make East vs West but that died in development.

Meanwhile, their subreddit is still gooning to Brandon Russell.

Sometimes I wonder how would he feel about having a sizeable amount of trannies wanting to have sex with him.
