According to her LinkedIn she worked at some digital marketing agency. That kind of job can be brutal, like stupidly short deadlines and needless 60-80 hour weeks. But to go from employed and miserable to unemployed but ~following your dreams~ in NYC is not smart. Digital marketing agencies don't pay that much, especially as a junior editor so I don't know how she's been able to stay largely unemployed for a year in NYC of all places. The fact that she never mentioned her Songseed business probably means she hasn't gotten any work from there.

She gives off trust fund kid vibes to me. That useless college she went to is 50K a year and she immediately gets hired into a social media career after graduating with an unrelated degree? I dunno, seems a bit odd. I searched for her family name and many prominent NYC based folks came up but wasn't able to pin it down much passed that. I'll keep looking, especially if she stays prominent around Jude.

Mom is Mariann McDonagh, a marketing executive. Father is Kevin McDonagh, possibly retired. Mom’s Massachusetts house is worth 1.3 million, dad has a 1.1 million dollar home in Nassau County, a posh suburb on Long Island. Sister Olly (Cait) is a pooner tattoo artist.

ETA Dad Kevin passed away in 2023.

Explains perfectly how she got that gig at Brain Bytes with an unrelated degree and little experience. They seem legit. Their glassdoor is 4.1, which I'm not sure I've ever seen for a mid sized marketing company. People love working for them. To just quit that job, to me at least, indicates she'll never worry about money in her life, one way or another.
 
It sucks her dad died, I wonder if she got money from an inheritance.

If she has a trust fund (which I strongly suspect both kids do, in addition to inheritance), it makes WAY more sense now why Jude's latched onto her and no longer complaining about bills. It also explains the lack of desperation/hustle/grind in Michaela starting a "music career" while seemingly not also taking on 2-3 part-time jobs just to make ends meet. She's WAY too relaxed to not be a trust fund baby.

 
Loser trust fund "artist" type hooking up with a loser section 8 "artist" that has a gritter "real-lived" experience? I could see it. Privileged, in the real sense, but also "privileged" just for being white, and looking for cred/is self-guilting into this type of relationship. I can't help but see their chemistry-free romance as just being self-serving for both of them.

I can't imagine Jude not milking Mhic 😒 for all she's worth, and tapping into every SJW weapon in her arsenal to keep in paid bills and free vacations.

I'm probably being nitpicky here but while definitely a UMC family, a million dollar house on Long Island is not the level of rich people usually mean when you say "trust fund baby." Real estate on Long Island went insane after Covid and your basic bitch 3 to 4 bedroom will go for over a million now (and he's apparently not rich enough for Suffolk County). At that level I'd expect parents that happily cover her college and rent, and connections to get a cushy bullshit job but not someone who was born with her own trust.

More likely I think she was originally raised rich but trust-less, then with her father's passing in 2023 they established a trust for her inheritance (because her parents know she's a flake that can't manage her own finances), and seeing this she decides c. 2024 that she doesn't need a job and she'll live off her inheritance from now on.
