Actor Jonathan Joss — best known for his voice work on the iconic animated TV comedy “King of Hill” was shot dead by a neighbor in Texas, according to a report.

Joss, who voiced “John Redcorn” on the long-running cartoon, got into a argument with the neighbor at his home in San Antonio Sunday night when the neighbor pulled out a gun and shot him several times, according to police.

The unnamed gunman then fled the scene in a vehicle but was arrested by police just a block from the residence.

I've never seen this show. He could have been so much more than a methed up crazy chained to a pooner. Meth is a hell of a drug. I think the most nuanced take is that Joss being killed really was a tragedy.

Whether or not it's self defense remains to be seen. If the shooting is ruled murder, then I hope that shooter gets raped in prison for the rest of his life. If it actually is self-defense, then it sucks, but what are you going to do?

Trick that works with a lot of websites that don't have built-in extractors on yt-dlp and similar tools is to open the browser dev tools, go to the network tab, open the web page and then check for m3u8 files. This is the playlist file for the most common format of segmented video playback online.

index.m3u8 is NOT the playlist we're looking for though, it turns out that's just some livestream that's wasting bandwidth in the background. If you hit play on the video, you'll see the actual playlist we want

The one we need is master.m3u8. The other playlists are for specific quality settings, whereas master has all the quality presets available. Copy the URL by right clicking on the request

Run yt-dlp with the URL as a positional argument. It'll open up the playlist and download the best quality stream available.

Good writeup, one thing to note. While most sites use m3u8 files, some will be named .mpd, so that's something that may throw a curve ball to the unaware. However, like you mentioned, pressing play on the video will cause the proper playlist file to show up, regardless of the file extension it's using.
