I saw that reddit thread the other day. I considered this to be a very clear call to action

These people really don't understand how one dimensional their view is. The revelation of Andor is supposed to be
"in order to fight true evil you have to compromise on your moral standards to get the good outcome because pure morals can't do it"
And what they just can't wrap their head around is the fact that that's exactly how the empire (and all IRL dictatorships) justifies its own existence. Palpatine literally says it "for safer and securer society!"

Everything israel is doing in palestine is justified by that same logic. They can't fight the evil hamas while worrying about civilian casualties, so they've stopped trying.

It's not like conservatives aren't guilty of this sometimes as well, but constantly these days leftists will acknowledge the fighting fire with fire paradox, and then conclude "and that's why my side is right and justified in doing anything!!!"

it was actually really good, too good for that really meh show
i feel bad for witwer because he is an honest fan from how he talks about star wars
If Sam Witwer were a real fan he'd refuse to portray the cucked Darth Maul he's been hyping up and push for a more proper Darth Maul or nothing. His Shadow Hunter reading is the only time I liked him as Maul because he did a good job and had good material to work with.

They're too blinded by their hate of fascism, that they have become the very thing they swore to destroy. They have the Empire mimic the Wannsee Conference with that first Krennic scene in that mountain retreat with Dedra and Space Qyburn, when in reality, the people who attended that conference in real life would agree with Luthen in that you need to put aside conventional morality in order to create a better world for tomorrow.

Like I said before, you can justify the actions of Vader, Tarkin, and Palpatine, the grand triumvirate of the Empire, with the very same principle. Vader and Tarkin want to save lives and end conflict and chaos. Palpatine wants a peaceful galaxy. Those ends are good, but the means they choose to pursue those ends are evil. That is why the Empire is evil, and why the old Alliance was good, because unlike the Empire, the Alliance sought to do good things through good, ethical means.

Now? Both sides use evil means for what they tell everyone are good ends, except at least Palpatine sold his soul for the sake of stability; the new Rebels sold their soul for the sake of spite. It now makes perfect sense that the New Republic is a complete joke; a lawless, inept cause that Krennic warned about. The Rebellion put too much if their energy on getting rid of the Empire, to the point where everything else became an afterthought.

At this point, if this is the modern Rebel Alliance, let the Empire crush their skulls with a boot to the face. Hell, the Sequels practically did that for us, with a remnant of the Empire kicking the shit out of the Alliance's New Republic.

Oh wow they were retarded enough to waste money on this. I rather hope this book came out BEFORE the show flopped.

Actually correct that; I hope it came out after. Just because that makes this decision even funnier.

"Belt with hidden paint tubes so she can paint if she has a sudden inspiration"
Jesus fucking christ, did they ask some peopel to come up with the most obnoxious eat-pray-love caricatures?

Another Disney product skinwalking something good and failing. The pre-Disney Star Wars visual guides for both characters and ships & vehicles were all wonderful.

I could never get into Andor because every character in the show gets the "died for nothing" award. The New Republic gets rape-stomped by the First Order, so any atrocities the Rebels commit mean nothing in the end.
Exactly. Luthen, Andor, Jyn, Lonni, they all died for nothing, because the new dawn of the New Republic that they fought so valiantly for wound up being stomped into the dirt by a bargain-bin basement version of the Empire consisting of orphans and led by emotional teens.

It also shows that the Empire makes for better rulers AND better rebels than the Alliance ever did. The First Order's insurgency makes the Luthen's operation look like a joke.

What insurgency? It was just the Empire 2.0 since fuck doing things like showing the New Order revolts start from a position of weakness. And fuck it let's give out idiot balls to the New Republic in each new media because we fucked ourselves with no planning.

Heck, even outside of the Sequels, the Empire acts better than the New Republic.

The Shadow Council hears from Moff Gideon that the Mandalorians could be a threat, they take him at his word and send him the help he asks for, even though it's quite obvious that Pellaeon and Hux Sr. don't like him. They're professional enough to put grudges aside to work towards a common goal.

The Republic Senate gets word of Thrawn's return from a reliable source like Hera, whose team witnessed incidents of subterfuge from pro-Imperial factions within the Republic, they tell Hera to get stuffed. Hera sacrificed so much for the Rebellion just like Luthen did, yet the Senators don't give a flying shit about that and treat her like a criminal.

The Alliance is in a position of power, and they're completely falling apart at the seams, meanwhile, the Empire is reduced to being the resistance force, and yet they can put their grudges aside despite the fact that there's clear hostility between different leaders and groups.

And if we compare how Andor's rebels and the Shadow Council act, once again, the Empire is more professional as a resistance force than Andor's rebels ever were. Gideon didn't have to worry getting sold out by his fellows, the way Luthen sold out those Separatists to protect his ISB mole.

It's really weird we're supposed to root for these guys when the writers keep telling us they're retarded and will actively let the bad guys set up to fucking kill them. Since they did that three separate times at least just off the top of my head, with Han's death, willingly ignoring the Corellian Incident, and the whole they knew the clones were a sith plot. Then they use the same tactics as their enemies, such as burning assets, brainwashing people, and apparently shitting on worlds like Naboo.

Then they also discriminate against aliens, as shown with Hera, and don't understand the concept of a security force. Even that pacifistic moron George Lucas made sure Naboo had a police force that could throw pirates offworld if they weren't too big. Hell, even Satine understood having that. They didn't have an army, but their policing forces were supposed to play a role similar to that of Costa Rica, where if pressed by hostiles they can fulfil that role.

If it wasn't for the fact that it was incompetence, I'd be concerned about Darth Iger and his desire for unlimited US Presidential Power with this shit being pushed.

Again, all this tells me is that a Great Filter should just kill all the thinking entities in the Galaxy at this point.

The thing is, this might work; I mean Gundam usually has both sides be filled with assholes. But the problem is, the one side they want us to like looks totally mundane and bends over backwards for political dickheads, whereas the other side that they want us to hate looks powerful, acts powerful, has all the nice tools, has all the cool Force powers, they have the numbers game, and they either play the political dickheads like a fiddle, (Dooku, Palpatine) or tell the political dickheads to shove it up their ass. (Vader, Maul, Grievous)

The spirit of the Acolyte is still upon Disney SW. In the end of the day, they can't help but love that Dark Side Dick.

Once you go black, you never go back.

At this point, with all the aliens who are on the Empire's side (the Trandoshans helped the Empire in the new canon just as they did in the old, and the Pantorans openly celebrated the Empire) is it truly right to say that the Empire was racist against aliens? Hell, there's probably more aliens on the side of the "racist" Empire, and the worst we saw them do was walk up to a planet of fellow humans, humans from the bourgeoisie class, and gun them down so they can jackhammer the planet for Death Star parts.

Sure, maybe you can point to the Geonosians as a race the Empire utterly buttfucked, but the Jedi had no problems barbecuing them with flamethrowers, so it's not like the other side was nice to them, either. And that other race of aliens (the Aeos) that the First Order bombed from space in Resistance were bombarded for their support of pro-Resistance elements, not because they were aliens.

And as for the Mon Calamari, in the new canon, a Jedi drives a wedge between them and the Empire, forcing them to fight each other, since he saw a vision of the Empire fighting Mon Cala ships in the future. So he endeavored to make that vision a reality. So it wasn't even the Empire's fault, either; it was that one Jedi who was to blame. Even Darth Vader was horrified when he realized that the Jedi played both the Empire and the Mon Calamari against each other, and the latter got what he wanted, at the cost of billions of lives.
