Imagine being a 1925 born WW2 vet. You fought and bled through horrors to free europe! Then you used your gi pay to move out to california and start a buisness and a family in LA. Maybe a construction company that picked up work building sets for hollywood, you worked hard and saw your labor contribute to bringing some of the great american classics to life! And you built some houses for your community on the side.

You hit your 40s in the 60s, your 60s in the 80s, when the WTC fell you were 76. You were already noticing some very strange things going on but it was still your home.

You'd be 100 years old now, likely wheelchair bound and unable to do anything as you've had to simply sit and watch for the past 20 years as something you spent your entire life building from the ground up is turned into an unfathomable nightmare that rivals mordor.

He's ancient and slowing down and thankfully still independent, and stuff like this popping off and hitting the news cycle is usually a good way to get the wheels turning and him talking and interacting more than "how's the weather, okay I'm tired I'm going to bed now".

I don't understand why people who are in a state and city that pass laws saying they refuse to cooperate with federal law enforcement on matters of immigration for like 10-20 years are surprised when the response from federal law enforcement just doesn't try to coordinate with them any more.

If they do have connections to foreigners that would probably be the best place for an investigation to start because I’ve got a feeling that the foreigners would be less disciplined and serious than them.

I'm not so sure. I believe the cell system is in effect, and these guys are very much tied closely to one another, I'm not sure they'll give up each other easily. Plus they're fairly entrenched wherever they are eg. there are particular buildings in various cities that are known to be their strongholds, typically university buildings that no one has bothered to clear them out of.
It'd be kino if anyone tried to break them, I'd love for it to happen. The salt and the seething would be something out of this world.
