Great thread as always, Osama.
My controversial spicy hot advertiser-unfriendly take is that people really should not care about youtubers "stealing" content from this place, because ultimately no amount of complaining is going to make them change their ways. They are leeches through and through and will never care about proper attribution. Niggermarking is funny af though.
I don't care if people make videos and shit, it's whatever, drop in the bucket at this point, but the generation of tiktok-ified cows ala Daniel Larson or WorldOfTShirts has introduced this weird need to just fucking annotate a video or clip and then play it. Why even play it if you just explain "Alright guys, TophiaChu gets big mad! She stuffs her fat piggy face, cries about the TROLLS and ONLINE HARASSERS, calls them BROKE AND JOBLESS, and then cries!" and then play a 5 minute clip of that? Like, nigga that's not interesting, and somehow these niggers take weeks to get to something so they'll paint what is, by the time it's uploaded, weeks-months old info as "new" or worth covering in that capacity. And then, these faggots will not only try to tell you right from wrong, they'll violate their own ethics on such rights/wrongs and shit touch until it eventually bites them.
This is my viewpoint. I don't care about "stealing" content. It's information. I mean it's mega gay when they read directly from the thread without attribution, and that's actual plagiarism, but just using facts isn't. When they're simultaneously monetizing it and fucking up the content, though, it's niggermarking time. (Or whatevermarking if you're not into that.)
I am also not particularly passionate about kiwitubers using information from this site without attribution. Imagine what this place would turn into if they cited it as a source. We'd be flooded by their idiotic followers who couldn't be bothered to lurk for a while, shitting up the threads with their Reddit-tier opinions. Better to keep that nonsense where it belongs.
As for the act of kiwitubing itself, I'd be a hypocrite if I were to condemn them all because I've been known to check in on some of them from time to time. The ones who condense down a cow's stream to highlight the few funny moments can be pretty helpful because hell if I'm going to sit through an hour+ of Chris Chan coloring on the off chance he says something funny or shits himself on stream.
I don't even particularly care that the kiwitubers are making money off of what they do (as long as they simply report and maybe add some commentary --
never get involved with the cow; never be part of the story). They're not taking any money out of
my wallet, so why should I care? You'll never catch me sending these fools superchats or whatever, but I'm ok with them earning some ad bucks from their videos. Putting themselves out there is a bit more risky than just posting on a message board (even if they attempt to hide their identities -- look at how many have been ID'd in this thread alone), so the Adsense is a reward for that risk.
What irks me about them is the undeserved sense of self-importance that some of them have. They're not doing hard-hitting journalism as some of them believe; they're not even "exposing predators" Dateline-style. They're just laughing at retards online -- it's not that deep.
And, of course, getting involved directly with the cows (either for the purpose of generating lols or to "punish" a cow's misdeeds) is reprehensible. It just shouldn't be done -- it doesn't matter what the circumstances are.
Zoomers in particular seem to have some warped view of consequences and feel the need to take matters into their own hands. That leads these kiwitubers to make "callout" videos taking the cows to task for their actions -- or worse, leading campaigns to make life difficult for them. If I had to guess, these zoomers may have gotten this view due to the negative perception of law enforcement by major media as well as the rise of "cancel culture" in recent years -- and maybe even the fact that they themselves were so coddled that the worst punishment they ever received was a stern talking-to. Whatever the cause, it's irritating watching them act like some kind of moral crusader when they're really doing nothing at all.
I don't have a good way to wrap this up, so I'll just summarize: Some kiwitubers are ok; most take things way too far.
I'll take my autistic puzzle piece stickers now.
