Between nations that aren't mortal enemies I'd disagree but you're 100% right here.

This isn't 2 European countries with a similar culture and values fighting, like a battle ending with a French officer giving a British officer his sword and Britain gaining a port and escorting the surrendered French out, this shit is considered existential.

Israel is taking it more seriously, Iran fucked up.

Take it from a former practitioner of the craft: Jihadis are shit at fighting. They come in two flavors, shia and sunni with varying gradations of viciousness. They are invincible when gunning down fleeing women and children or attacking in absolutely overwhelming numbers that would put the American Army's doctrine of attacking with three to one odds to shame... but they fucking melt when subjected to any pressure whatsoever; if you catch and fix them, then they die. The problem is catching them or catching them in greater concentrations than a hand full of guys with one AK apiece, sandals and no spare magazines.

And it shows. This Iranian response is to launch cruise missiles at apartment blocks and the Israeli response is to surgically decapitate the Iranian retaliatory capability to a chorus of autistic shrieking from a bunch of frothmouthed, schizophrenic /pol/niggers and genderblob communists.

Israel doesn't have the ability to do that. It's why they need the US to fight all their wars for them. The US is one of the few countries that has the ability to project force in that way. The problem isn't the conventional war. The problem is the inevitable insurgency that will happen after. The conventional war in Iraq was over in a few weeks. The problem was all the guerilla shit that happened after. That would definitely happen in Iran. You think those Iranian Republican Guards or whatever the fuck they are called are going to stand and fight just to get slaughtered by ZOG bots? Fuck no. They are going to slink off into the countryside and start engaging in guerilla style non-conventional fighting. Planting IED's hit and runs and so on. It will basically be Iraq all over again. Another forever war the American public no longer has the stomach for.

North Korea is at least half smart and does what they've been called for years, remain a hermit kingdom. They're not organizing little bands of warlords and arming them to attack South Korea or any of the other 10iq plays Iran has made to get into this position.

Sketchy nations having them isn't the issue; sketchy nations developing them to use them is. Israel, Pakistan, India, I guess you could say North Korea, all places that shouldn't have them but they're not building up a holy war to destroy a civilization either. There is a massive difference in mutually assured destruction and offensive use of any nuclear armed weapon because one is inherently wrong.

To add on, Iran already has an active insurgency going on in Baluchistan Province, which happens to border both Pakistan and Afghanistan. The active Jihadi Baloch nationalist group easily gets weapons from both countries and that can easily extend to foreign jihadis who would love to flood in the moment Americans lay boots on the ground. If the US intends to do some nation building project in Iran, geographically it will bring in Jihadis flooding in from every direction.

Speaking of, what is the state of the "Iranian opposition". I know the royalists are just larping in Los Angeles about restoring the monarchy and there are some fringe Marxist Iranian opposition that operated out of Iraq a long time ago.

This as well. It will basically be like what happened in Afghanistan during the Soviet and American invasions. Dune coons will flood in from all over the Middle East and central Asia.

They can't carry out anything truly effective against Iran without putting soldiers in the country. The idea that this can all be done from the air is a fantasy. Soldiers will need to be sent in. Sure, they can bomb stuff, but it won't do the job 100%. Israel can't do it so guess who can?

It will basically be Iraq 2.0.
